New nodule

@mamajite I'm waiting to hear from the scheduling nurse on Monday. I hope it's the week of the 22nd or 29th.

Latest news. No kras mutation so separate primary. But almost more important is tracing my original pathology. I had 2 tumors same lung. Lobectomy at Moffitt. Tgey staged me 2b, intrapulmonary metastasis. They sent tissue for molecular analysis. I transfered treatment to Florida Cancer Specialists and they obtained tissue from Moffitt. There was always a problem. Moffitt showed kras 12c. Fcs showed kras 12d and tp53. My doctor thought lab error.
I finally, 2.5 years later unraveled the pathology trail. It seems that the 2 analysis were done on 2 separate tumors! No lab error. Misdiagnosed. Seems I had multiple primaries and not intrapulmonary metastasis. So chemo and keytruda for nothing. Im still having adverse effects from keytruda.
But good news is that new one is independent also. That makes me feel a lot better about the 3 ground glass nodules in my other lung, particularly now that I know about Aliya pef.

@ladylennie I'm relieved that you finally got your answers and that your cancers have been caught early. but how frustrating to be misdiagnosed and have had to endure extra treatment. I hope you can celebrate the good part of the news and feel like you have a treatment path forward that works for you.

I had the aliya system using pulsed field ablation. It was malignant with no mutations and is being considered a new primary stage 1a1.

@ladylennie, Second primary..., cancer is keeping you on your toes isn't it. I'm glad you were able to get the biopsy and the ablation. I wasn't sure if the two went together. Are there any additional treatments being considered, or just the ablation? How is your recovery from that procedure going?

The procedure was nothing. Just a slightly sore throat. I wont know the results until early October because it takes at least 90 days for the cells to die. Then I'll get a scan. The dr is optimistic and so am I.

This is actually my 3rd primary, since the 1st 2 were misdiagnosed as intrapulmonary metastasis but were actually separate primaries. They had very different molecular findings, which we just discovered 2 1/2 years later.

My oncologist wants me to go to Mayo Jacksonville but they dont take my insurance nor would they allow self pay. We're in the process now of requesting a single case agreement where they'll see me for a consultation. My oncologist wants to be sure of the correct protocol for mplc.
Has anyone on here had multiple primaries and if so, what was your treatment plan?

@ladylennie there are a few threads on here for multifocal lung cancer. in my experience, if the nodules are constrained to a single lobe, they'll want to remove it. if multiple lobes are affected, but there are only a few nodules they might go with radiation (and the Aliya procedure you had also seems promising. ) if there are multiple nodules in multiple lobes, they usually look at systemic (drug) treatment, or some combination of approaches. the aggressiveness of the particular cancer is another factor. the bottom line is you will need a customized treatment plan. I hope your insurance will allow for a consultation with someone experienced in treating multifocal lung cancer.
