What are your experiences with Leqvio?

Posted by lloydrjphd @lloydrjphd, Oct 23, 2025

My cardiologist is considering adding Leqvio to rosuvastatin to further reduce my cholesterol. I am looking for other people’s experiences with Leqvio.

@justlucky For those of us who are in the same boat, so to speak, and have not followed every entry to the thread, can you please tell us what the permanent side effects might be? I think we would all like to be aware. If you don't mind sharing. Thank you.

@71young I'm no medical professional. I apologize, I don't have the time or inclination to repeat my previous comments. Plus this thread is about inclisiran/Leqvio rather than Crestor/rosuvastatin. Please do a key word search to find the relevant posts.
I have idiopathic peripheral neuropathy which may not appear until 1-2 years after starting the med. Even if the cause can be identified and eliminated, sometimes nerves just don't recover.

I have been on LEVQIO for a couple years now. I could not take the statins they caused leg pain. The LEVQIO gives me no side effects. It also hasn’t lowered my cholesterol or LPa. But it clears my sinuses!!! The nurse said that was not a side effect, but it happens every single time I get an injection that my sinuses get absolutely clear! I love it even though it’s only for a day!

@rnr1948 I'm sorry to hear this. I, too, have an aversion and intolerance to statins (specifically rosuvastatin which caused irreversible neuropathy in my feet) and chose to try inclisiran/Leqvio. My 3rd injection will be tomorrow. Would you mind telling me -- was the pain you experienced immediate? I ask because I am suddenly having pain in one ankle, making me more unsteady than the neuropathy symptoms. It feels like I twisted my ankle, but I haven't. It's 6 months past after the 2nd injection, so I'm thinking it's unlikely related to Leqvio. But it would be helpful to know more about your experience.
Thanks In advance.

@justlucky I will have #3 injection in October. So we are not far apart in this process. I have new pain on sides of lower arms and one leg. Not obviously joint pain. It is very sharp but last only a short time. I was thinking nerve damage from an episode of Eliquis bleeding in the ER was the cause, but I should also consider Leqvio as a possible cause. It seems to be something like MS symptoms, but not quite. Lots of visual problems too.

At this age, I have a hard time being sure what causes what. I can say for sure what helped with my symptoms. A physical therapy method called MacKinysie Method helped my breathing and blood pressure dramatically and I get fewer episodes of vision and muscle pain. Neck exercises may have helped too.

@jlharsh

I’m on 10mg rosuvastatin and that reduced my LDL to the mid/higher 60s. Doctor (and I) want to see it below 50. Adding Leqvio seemed like the best choice, since I had a mild reaction (muscle soreness) to the statin when I started on it. Repatha seems to have more side effects and requires specific storage conditions that would be hard to maintain when traveling. So, Repatha was not considered. I am hesitant to go on Higher/maximum statin due to possible risks (even though risk is low?, for example, development of diabetes).

@lloydrjphd Leqvio has possibly saved my life with 2 shots taking ldl fromm96 to 44. However, for me the side effects have been so severe that I don't think I'll take another dose IM. My muscle and joint pains are severe. My energy has been depleted, and I often feel like doing nothing. This is not clinical depression - it is the result of the Leqvio, which I've taken along with Rosuvastatin and zetia. It really makes me feel awful. I have severe CAD, but I'm wondering if decreasing my ldl is worse seriously feeling bad much of the time. However, I know my symptoms are very unusual and very severe for users of Leqvio. I would recommend trying it.

Joint & muscle pain, lethargy, brain fog, depression/anxiety/irritability. Doctors have been pushing cholesterol drugs on me for decades. The results are always the same as to side effects. In the past, on some of the statins, the depression has been severe. Thus, I have not taken these medications. At 74 years old, my cardiologist wanted me to try an injectible (Leqvio). Just had my second injection, total cholesterol down to 207 from 253.

Unless the side effects diminish, I will probably not continue the injections. With me, the personality/quality of life changes are not worth it.

@jwpmc You are certainly having some of the same experiences as I have. ldl went from 96 to 44 after only 2 injections of Leqvio. I am 79 years old. My depression has always been bad, but with Leqvio it's dramatically worse and also causes lots of anxiety about even simple things. But just as importantly, I can hardly get out of bed and stay out of bed because my energy has become almost non existent, Before giving up on Leqvio as an injectable, I'm going to ask cardiologist about trying the daily pill form. My CAD is barely into the severe range, but my mother died too young from arterialchlerosis. (not spelled correctly).

@tatiana987 so true, it's hard to know what causes what. My best to you!

I'm a 77 year old woman. My Dr. Has been concerned about my high cholesterol levels for years. My first shot was in February 2026 and the second shot in May 2026. The Dr. started me on Leqvio because of leg pain with statins. Since beginning the treatment I have had leg, foot, joint and muscle pain. The pain is increasing and hindering my ability to walk. I constantly afraid that I will fall. I have decided not to continue with the treatments and hopefully my leg weakness and pain will disappear.

@rnr1948 - Providing the rest of the story. My foot/ankle pain turned out to be tendonitis. It's better now but took a couple of weeks to turn the corner.

I’m a 75-year-old male, and I’m not sure whether it’s the combination of Leqvio and rosuvastatin, but my legs, particularly my thighs and quadriceps, have become very sore since starting these medications. Some days the pain is significant enough that it hurts to walk.I notice it especially the day after exercising at the fitness center or playing golf, although I can only manage nine holes these days. At the same time, I’m not sure whether the pain is related to my osteoarthritis or whether the medications are aggravating it.The good news is that my LDL numbers have improved dramatically. For now, I’m going to stop taking the rosuvastatin for a day or two to see if there’s any noticeable change in the leg pain.
