Is anyone on Repatha for cholesterol...

I'm taking Repatha shots every 2 weeks for cholesterol. So far, so good.
Has anyone experienced side effects...

@9yellowbox The new medication is "not exactly" Repatha, but a close relative.

It is called Lipfendra (enlicitide). Keep in mind that Repatha already has a pretty long track record for safety and effectiveness, while much less is know about the new drug.

Since Lipfendra was just approved last week, I'm sure there are two things happening right now. First, distribution, pricing, prescribing requirements, and insurance/Medicare coverage are still being figured out. Second, your doctor's office is swamped with calls from people like you who want to change from injections.

If Repatha works for you, there is a good chance that under the normal "prior approval" rules, you might be denied the new medication if it costs (the insurer) more than they are paying for the old one under their pharmacy benefit contract.

Have you considered waiting until your next scheduled visit to ask about changing? By then, many of these issues may have been worked out.

I was on Praluent for several years and then the doctor or insurance company switched me to Repatha. I have had absolutely no problems with either drug, both were quite effective but the Repatha did bring down my cholesterol numbers more dramatically. I do the injections high on my leg near the hip and they are painless.

When I was attempting to use statins, I had all kinds of muscle problems but none at all from either of the injectables.

@porscha Yes for my LDL and cholesterol numbers, And so far so good. Been on Repatha for about 1 1/2 to 2 years. Numbers are great and no side affects that are noticeable.

I use Repatha shots. Numbers are good except my LDL stays high. I heard rhere is a pill now.

@hsminc the list price of that new pill is about half that of Repatha, but like everything in the US healthcare system, it all depends on your insurance company whether they will cover it and at what cost

@reillyg1013 That is a low cholesterol number. The normal total in the 60's was 350. So I'm happy with any number in the 200's to 300. We're supposed to have cholesterol. It's the LDL and inflammation that hurts us. I'm taking Repatha; I have Familia Hypercholesterolemia which is not fun.

@9yellowbox I think the pill is the same as Repatha. I've been on Repatha SureClik since February '26. Total cholesterol is good but my LDL is still high as well. I have Familia Hypercholesterolemia which is hard to handle. My CABGX3 has totally closed up after 10 years. I'm coping with Angina by taking heart meds.
