Missed one nighttime anti rejection drugs.

Posted by ernestbrandt1980 @ernestbrandt1980, 20 hours ago

I missed one nighttime dose of anti rejection pills 4 nights ago and my ALT and AST levels are high. Anybody go through this before? I called mayo and they said it wasn't a big deal but they haven't gotten these test results yet as my Primary just sent them an hour ago.

I had the same thoughts and asked the same question. Had a liver transplant 2.5 years ago and it is better to be lucky than good but I have not missed an am nor pm dose in that time. But being paranoid I asked both Mayo and my local DR. and both said missing just one dose was not a big deal. But I assume two would be. Can't confirm but someone once told me that TAC stays in your system for 72 hrs.. Not sure if that is true or what its half life would be. Have had surgeries and blood tests where I could not take my meds till hours later than my normal range and the DRs. involved always told me np. I would not worry. Hang in there. (---:

@craigcraig Thanks Craig. When I woke up that morning and noticed I didn't take them I was so upset at myself. I got my liver transplant 2 months ago and feeling 90% normal but my liver is still kind of hard and gets irritated when I sit upright too long and I wake up sometimes feeling uncomfortable where my liver is. Have you experienced that after transplant?

@ernestbrandt1980, Yes! I've gone thru this before, too. And, just like you and @craigcraig, I contacted my Mayo team.
Missing a single dose should not be an issue, unless you did it on the night before the labs. And then if there is a question, you might have to redo the test.

How long ago was your transplant?

@ernestbrandt1980 Truth be told it was over 2 years ago and I don't recall that specifically. But I did not feel great overall when down in AZ with my wife the first couple months. But after getting home I was walking my golden retriever and we were doing over a mile walks within 6 months.
Congrats on your transplant !! I was told by another one of us transplanties (sic) "it gets better and better". And that's what I have found. And it sure beat liver cancer for me by a mile. I bet you get back to 95 % normal this year. We all just need to remember to take our meds twice a day (---: Best of luck !

@rosemarya My transplant was on may 9th 2026 so exactly 2 months ago. I got an MRI a couple weeks ago because they suspected a clogging artery and that was confirmed so I'm taking eliquist blood thinners now to clear up the artery so I'm not sure if it's that thats making my levels rise. I'll be getting a phone call from mayo today since my primary in Tucson sent the test results yesterday at 4pm or I'm going to call them if I don't hear anything by 3pm today. My recovery so far has been good, I'm more active now walking 1.5 miles a day and eating protein and healthy fiber. I really appreciate you and Craig helping me out.

@craigcraig That's really good to hear that. It's been a bumpy road so far but my faith has gotten me through these 2 months of recovery and gives me strength to get better and gives me the support I need like this forum and you guys I found yesterday. I don't worry at all because I know it's going to get better and hearing you being 2.5 years after transplant gives me more motivation and calmness. Thanks again bud.
