Buspirone and side effects
I started taking 5 mg buspirone twice daily for significant anxiety due to chronic pain but the side effects are overwhelming with nausea, drowsiness, leg weakness, etc. Anyone have experience with this medication and whether the side effects go away? Has it been effective for you? Doctors seem to think this is a safe medication and good for older people, but they don't tell you to expect these side effects. Your input and experience with this drug is greatly appreciated! Thanks

I just recently increased my dosage of Buspirone. I do have occasional
audio noises that aren't there just when starting to wake up--anyone else?

djg3012 - what did the physician who prescribed the buspirone say about the audio side effect you mentioned?
@lisalucier I haven't mentioned that-thought it was the anxiety, as I am still on 15 mg. it doesn't happen every day.Am still experimenting with dosage.

1 ReactionI recently went from 20mg to 30mg of buspirone after 2 years. I couldn’t tell much difference. It is a very mild drug in my experience.

2 ReactionsI have been on Buspirone for seven years now. Prior to Buspirone, I was on Klonopin and I was concerned about becoming too dependent on it. Buspirone is a much safer medication and for me, and it is just as effective. I do sometimes hear a buzzing sound in my ear right after I take the medication. I call it the "Buspar Buzz." Per my doctor's suggestion, I find that if I take only 7.5 mg of Buspirone at a time, the buzzing sound disappears. As a result, I break the 15mg tablet in half for each dose. I take 7.5 mg in the morning, 7.5 mg at noon and 7.5 mg in the evening. I can tolerate the medication much better. When I first started taking it, I felt a little dizzy; however, these side effects wore off after I was on the medication for a couple of months.

1 Reaction@joetex I agree that it seems like a very mild drug. I am not sure if it really does anything. I take Rexulti, Busparone and Zoloft 200 mg. I don’t have any anxiety now.
I take Zoloft 200 mg and Buspar, 5 mg, but also Rexulti.
@seeker4truth does it affect your sleep ?
