Has anyone experienced internal vibrations?

Posted by redladyjoni @redladyjoni, Nov 26, 2018

I started having the only way I can explain it is internal vibrations. I've had them for 3 months now, I went to t hihe ER and they told me it was anxiety. A doctor diagnosed me at a clinic as having Lyme disease I've started a 21-day prescription of Doxycycline I'm on day 7. I went to a psychiatrist a week ago to get something because of my nerves are just over the brink. He prescribed me Gabapentin and Valium I've only been on them a few days.
Has anyone experienced these internal vibrations?I have them almost 24/7 chest neck stomach from the hips down. I have more lab tests that should be in today, but the doctor's office said that they would not call unless there was some abnormality in the lab work.

Yes, I also have internal vibrations that run from my chin to my knees. It wakes me every morning around 4:00 AM and is intense vibrations/electric current/cell phone type buzzing all over - my arms, abdomen, hips, pelvis, chin, shoulders, thighs. I've had it since December 2025. I've had two c-spine MRIs, a brain MRI and an EMG. I've seen a Spine doctor, two neurologists and my General Practitioner. They say they can't 'see' anything wrong with me. My recent recommendation was to take Alpha Lipoid Acid supplements and come back in 3 months! My GP just prescribed Pregabalin. I am anxious to see if it helps. It's very annoying - especially not knowing what it is, what caused it and how to get rid of it. Anyone else find a cure? Thanks for sharing

@spatase I get them in my legs. When I lay in bed sometimes on my side and put my leges on top if each other they buzz like they are plugged into a wall socket.

Those experiencing internal vibrations - did any of you experience BEFORE Covid or Covid vaccines? Could that be a connection?

@spatase For me it started right after getting covid, had never happened before, and has lasted over two years. Very scary. Its lessening over time, slowly. Neurologist says it's central nervous system sensitization, not tied to other movement disorders. Taking 100 mg gabapentin daily has helped a bit. Most helpful was calming the mast cell inflammation triggered by Moderna vaccine and again by covid. That's been diet, red light, antihistamines.

@coloradom Thank you. I began Lyrica 75 mg this week maybe that will help. Sorry you are experiencing it too. It's certainly an odd sensation on a daily basis.

This is my life. Nonstop buzzing and twitching and burning. It's part of SFN but not all SFN has such severe system. I'm 9 years in and I know it's menopause I just can't find the right doctor to connect the dots. I'm really fed up when I keep screaming hormones. Other lovely symptoms are the squeezing pain, feel like you're in a vice. Can't turn left or step backwards without losing my balance. Hot flashes, and heat is my kryptonite, everything twitches more when I'm hot. Exercise is a joke, just makes recovery longer, sometimes I have to ice my feet down to stop buzzing. I used to have to sit on a vibrating cushion to counteract the vibrations just to eat before I started taking lyrica. I couldn't even walk barefoot before lyrica. Showers suck, it's been an hour since I hot out and still recovering which lead me to this thread today. Nerve hypersensitivity, and I do think stress was also a contributing factor, I was under enormous stress when this started. Then I took Lipitor and it set off the twitches.
Photophobia, there is another symptom, along with dry eyes. I'm sure there are more symptoms that will surprise me with the way this has progressed.
I have found some relief with marijuana. I also have some hobbies to zone in on as a distraction.
You might want to try out a pain management app. I had one before things got this bad that helped with the pain. Guided meditation for pain relief. Maybe binaural beats or rife frequencies could be useful. I have gotten headache relief through binaural beats.
I've been told that adding a low dose opioid to the regiment helps. Also a low dose anti depressant has been suggested. I just haven't tried because I can't afford to get dependent on more prescriptions .
Hopefully you can find some relief.

@need2relax
Vein valve problem?
The one-way valves in my left leg were damaged do to a blood clot. Now, in bed, I describe it as buzzing. Like sound, but I can’t put my ear on my leg to hear it that way.
Faulty valves in the veins and the blood is causing them to vibrate, is the explanation that I got.

@coloradom Pregabalin did not work. In fact, it escalated the vibrations. My next attempt is acupuncture but I have not scheduled an appointment yet. My vibrations began in December 2025 and continue nightly through today - 06/28/2026. Pretty annoying

I have internal vibrations which also started after having COVID in 2023. The vibration is mostly centered from head to my rib cage. My primary doctor and neurologist both thought it could be a central nervous system issue caused by COVID but there are no tests to confirm this. I also have sporadic muscle twitching mostly in the legs which feels like a pinball machine inside.
I was prescribed Gabapentin (400 mg) and it helps a little. It gives me a more quality sleep. I noticed that the vibration increases with stress. I think I am just learning to live with this as my new norm and try to keep stress to a minimum. But I have had 2 times in the last 3 years where the vibration has suddenly stopped for a short time and I realized what normal should be.
