Have you experienced emotional challenges associated with epilepsy?

Have any of you seen a Psychiatrist for the Psychiatric problems that an epileptic will have, such as fear, depression, moods, anxiety, and many other emotional problems? I was made fun of by kids and I’m in my 50’s. Let me know. I have a fear of leaving my house when going to a lot of places. Do any of you have this problem?

Thanks for asking. So far, so good. As they say, “no news is good news”. Although I drive ( quite legally) locally I no longer want to do serious distance driving alone and so my son drove me several hundred miles to visit relatives last week. So good of him ❤️

"No news is good news" is exactly the right way to look at it! It sounds like you've found a good balance between independence and knowing your own limits. I'm so happy for you! And how lovely that you've got your son to drive you those several hundred miles!

black outs. Looks like epilepsy .

When I read your post, I thought about a thread about PNES — psychogenic non-epileptic seizures — in our group that might be helpful to you. PNES can look very similar to epilepsy. Have a look!

It’s illegal to drive in Singapore after one has been diagnosed with this condition. I loved cars and to drive. But after this, I lost touch with all new models of my favorite marques and the tech which went into car. It’s like turning of keys to lock the door which it’s all keyless entry now.
