Rituximab Biosimilars Ruxience vs Truxima vs Riabni. Your experience?

Posted by Alta Net @altabiznet, 1 day ago

Original Rituximab is no longer available. However, it has 3 approved biosimilars:
Truxima by Celltrion (South Korea); Ruxience by Pfizer (US and Europe); Riabni by Amgen (US).

How was your experience with these biosimilars? If you switched from the original drug, was a biosimilar the same, or better, or worse? Please share your response to the treatment and if there was any toxicity?

Any insights are appreciated.

@altabiznet I take Riabni every 6 months and I’m doing well. No side effects after the infusion and no effects during the infusion! I wouldn’t have known the difference except 1 nurse told me as she was hooking me up.

Thank you for sharing your Riabni experience. It is good to hear that there were no side effects related to the infusion. Wish you continuing improvements on your journey.

My UNH insurance plan no longer covers original Rituxan. They cover only biosimilars, like Ruxience.

Do you have Rituxan covered by commercial insurance plan?
I think it is still generally covered by some commercial plans as well as by Medicaid and Medicare. I am not sure why my plan would not cover Rituxan. Although, with more biosimilars coming to the market, this is becoming a trend. Humira is also no longer covered, only biosimilars.

@altabiznet it is covered by Medicare and what Medicare doesn’t pay my supplemental does. I am blessed.
