Having Wegovy digestive issues ?

Posted by mayomee @mayomee, 1 day ago

Beginning to have problematic digestion issues with Wegovy 4 mg. Senior male, weight loss has been good. Started with 1.5 mg for almost 2 months. Decided to go to 4 mg. On that dosage for a few weeks. Now having stomach aches and diarrhea. Was using Benefiber and probiotic gummies, trying Metamucil and the gummies now, Imodium helps, stomach feels full, and hurts, anyone having similar issues or suggestions?

I’m not taking the medication Wegovy but I have heard that some people experience digestive problems with it, I noticed that you were taking probiotics and also Benefiber which I have taken before. I remember that they both gave me a lot of digestive issues especially probiotics, Benefiber works like a laxative if you take it for a while, it’s very similar to Metamucil which is another high fibre supplement. The probiotics were the hardest on my stomach, this is a known side effect, if you’re having diarrhea then it’s probably one or the other that might be causing your problem. I think it’s best to either speak to your doctor about this or ask a pharmacist about your symptoms, you may just need a change in dosage or perhaps consider another option.

Thanks, I appreciate that. I will for sure follow up with the doctors for the best solution. I am and have been taking Famotidine and Pantoprazole as well.

I have been approved for Wegovy but was afraid to take it! The digestive issues scared me. Would you say the results are worth the aggravation? I guess I could try it and always quit if it causes me too much grief. I eat pretty well but my weight keeps increasing. It scares me.

Thanks for the comment. I've been on the medication for close to three months. So far, I would say the benefits do outweigh the potential digestive issues. I am a heart patient as well as needing to shed some weight. That was important to me. Im trying to find the right mix of digestive solutions to combat some constipation, etc. I'll post my success or failure as I move thru this process. I guess each person's situation is different, based on their own personal health and objectives. Im planning on continuing to work with my doctor and gastro doctor to get where I need to be. If I can, fantastic, if not, I'll just discontinue the medication.
