Has anyone been to the Mayo Clinic for the after effects of whipple etc? I have all of them cholangitis infections, constant nausea and uncontrollable diabetes. Looking for an approach where drs get together and discuss-

@tomrennie kind of you to ask. Im better as i totally changed my diet over the last week. Total gastroparesis diet which means no fresh friut veg fiber or fat. Ick. Plus now im on reglan and thc every meal. Not sure mayo is right for me and oncologists telling me theyve never had a patient who was 5 yrs out with all my symptoms. One foot in front of the other. How about you?

It went well. The NP said Bruce was doing very well and that all the kinks were normal, I. e. lack of hunger and multiple daily bm’s. She said no to the Creon.
We go back June 2 for post-op and consultation with oncologist.

@jak365 Dietary changes can help. It's great that they are working for you. So you went to Mayo and met with an oncologist? Was a moving forward strategy discussed? I am doing well. Thanks for asking.

I had all the same kinks as your husband after Whipple and my surgeon said no to Creon, too. However, her PA prescribed it, saying it was worth a try. My gastroenterologist also said we could give it a try, but did not seem eager to prescribe it. I haven’t gotten a clear answer about taking Creon, so may depend on how each person reacts to Whipple. I don’t know if there is a way to check which digestive enzymes are deficient after Whipple.

@jak365, should you wish to get a second opinion from Mayo Clinic pancreatic and GI specialists, you can submit a request here: https://mayocl.in/1mtmR63

It sounds like you may have found some answers through diet. I think you might appreciate joining this discussion. It's not Whipple surgery specific, but fellow members share many tips.

I suspect you'll also have some insights and tips to share with others.

@jak365 OK. I misunderstood your, "Not sure Mayo is right for me" comment. My mistake.
