Migraine: Did botox work for you?

Posted by johnetteg @johnetteg, Nov 25, 2018

I had Botox injections for migraines 2 1/2 weeks ago and have been feeling sick. My vision is blurry, I have pressure in my head, I’m lightheaded, I’m having heart palpitations, high blood pressure and heart rate, my stomach has felt sick, I’m having trouble concentrating and focusing. Has anyone else experienced this? It’s really starting to scare me.

Before giving up on Botox (btw did it help your symptoms? In what way?). You might tray asking your doctor to use a lower dose and not get as many injections. If this helps, you could stay on this lower dosage potentially indefinitely m or until you felt ready to increase them slowly

@vijay26 - I moved your post here to this discussion where others have been discussing OnabotulinumtoxinA (Botox) for migraines for many years:

- Migraine: Did botox work for you? https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/botox-for-migraines-side-effects/

Hoping members here such as @laura1970 @docb99 @jrsjc @lalagriffin and others will share their experiences with OnabotulinumtoxinA (Botox) shots and what effect it has had on their migraines and any side effects.

Are you seriously considering these shots, or did your doctor recommend them, vijay26?

I did Botox one time for my head pain. It just didn’t work for me at all, still had lots of pain.
Now I get 3 nerve blocks once every 3 months. That works like a charm for me. Maybe you could ask your doctor if that might be an option for you.
I remember putting that off for a couple of years hoping there would be a pill that I could just take everyday. Now I’m so sorry I put off getting nerve blocks for those years.
Something for you to think about. Sending you good wishes and hopes that you find the answer you are looking for.

Hi Bonnie
What are the nerve blocks? How are they administered?

I tried the aimovig injections but they didn’t help prevent migraines. I’m now on daily tablets “Aquipta - atogepant’ but they are not helping either!
I get at least 4 migraines a week and it’s really getting me down!
