aquablation and retro ejaculation

Posted by anonymous342 @anonymous342, Jan 30, 2025

I had aquablation 6 weeks ago and have since experienced retrograde ejaculation. The doctor said I would ejaculate after the procedure but the volume would be less. I can feel it build up but nothong comes out so I now have retrograde ejaculation. The doctor claims I am his first patient to complain about this. BS.... My question to everyone does this ever improve over time or am I doomed with this for life. I also have burning in prostate area and urethra sometimes worse than other times. I assume I'm still healing maybe?

I agree the benefits from Aquablation outweigh getting permanent RE as a result of the procedure. And if I had known there was a higher percentage of getting RE instead of the 10% that I read about and was told about, I may have opted for a different procedure. I got Aquablation based on this small risk of getting permanent RE. You are right, you have to treat the urology issues or these issues could end up putting you to rest. But I also believe this small risk of RE being reported is misleading and possibly a strategy for men to opt for Aquablation over other procedures.

thank you.
things have improved over the last few days. i am able to pee better. Im still very sore especially during and after peeing. I still feel i'm keeping some in and need to do at least a 2nd pee about 5 -10 minutes later. i still have quick urges that i have to go. my pee is no longer spraying,
. I havent had to cic since the weekend. Waking up twice.
being able to pee decently where i couldnt pee at all prior to this is a miracle.

I had an HoLEP in February at 74 years old, and it was way less painful and way more effective than the UroLift that I had many years previously. But... you need an experienced Doctor, I strongly recommend Dr. Slade in Boise ID, he treats people from all over the world. He is true specialist in this area. Also, RE is not a big deal at all, don't miss the mess. The many daily urinary functions that took me back to way I was 25-30 years early are what is most important. Doctors avoid the HoLEP because of the specialized equipment and training, see a pro and get it done right and never have prostrate problems again!

Retrograde ejaculation can unfortunately happen after Aquablation even though the risk is lower than older prostate surgeries, and while some men notice partial improvement over several months as healing and inflammation settle, completely dry orgasms can sometimes be permanent, while the burning in your prostate and urethra at 6 weeks is still fairly common during recovery and is often related to ongoing healing and irritation unless it becomes severe or shows signs of infection.
