@kerrymcg72 - I'm on the beginning dose of semaglutide (Wegovy) and don't have a gallbladder. My weight is just going up and down each day so far. I'm not expecting much till I get to the next dose, as I believe the first one is not even at a therapeutic level.
@danawyn Costco. They had a coupon i used that up now I'm getting it from Lily they just sent me a second years worth of coupons
And you pay $25 month? I get mine thru them and it’s 304!! Where did you get coupons?
@danawyn if you’re self paying (no insurance coverage) then the coupon doesn’t apply.
Haven't had a gallbladder since 1995. I just started my Zepbound journey last year at age 60 and all is going very well! If I don't drink enough water I get cramps but that's from backing up poo. I don't step up to the next level does unless or until I need to; because I am gaining weight. I am having my PCP run blood tests for all possible issues and I haven't had any alarming changes - in fact with the weight loss some numbers improved. I appreciate my PCP meeting with me ever 3 months to review my progress and blood... so I don't end up with another issue trying to lose the weight. I hope this is helpful.

1 ReactionHad my gallbladder removed during an emergent surgery back in 2008. Started Wegovy a year or two ago because my A1C was 7.4...
I have not had any issues with the Wegovy. My A1C is in a good range and I have dropped a good amount of weight.

1 ReactionI am on Zepbound for past year. No gall bladder for many years. Only issues I have are constipation, being handled with Colace (softener) and Calm (a magnesium drink for motion). Gonna switch to Senna (it is a combo for softening and motion).

1 ReactionI just found out I have gallstones and I have been on wegovy for about a year. I also found out that my liver is insulin resistant. I am concerned that I will have to have surgery to remove gallbladder and that something else is going on with my liver. Could wegovy be the cause of both of these issues? I have to have a. Couple more scans on my liver and gallbladder to see the extent of them. I don't want to have surgery again. I've had bariatric surgery in 2000 and a hip replacement done in 2001 and 2025. I am only 46 and feel like my body is falling apart. Does anyone have any advice?

1 ReactionI have started on the GLP-1 injections 3 weeks ago. Dr started me on 10cc for 1st month,20cc for 2nd month, 40cc for 3rd month, my biggest complaint is nausea! Does it get easier over time? I sure hope so.they say eat lots of protein but I'm doing good to eat anything, just don't have a appetite, have to make myself eat. I had my gallbladder removed 3 yrs ago.i take Zofran for nausea which helps a little till i eat food, can't stand that watery feeling at my throat a lot.any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm not a diabetic just packed on a lot of weight in a year. I was 157 last year,I'm now 230,the biggest I've ever been.i don't won't to give up on the injections just hoping things will get better the longer I'm on it since it's only been 3 weeks. Hopefully someone can give me some good advice? Thanks..
@barbaraspainhour - I'm not a medical professional, but I have taken semaglutide (Wegovy) personally. The first time I was on it a couple years ago, I got so sick (massive abdominal pains and churning, nausea, random vomiting, diarrhea daily) that I finally asked to change to another GLP-1. I did, and about the time I got to the highest dose, my insurance stopped covering it. I could have ordered from the manufacturer, but by that point, I'd lost only 1 pound and was not sure that medication was working for me. Plus, paying the manufacturer would be a high price to sustain in one's monthly budget.
When I was sick on the semaglutide, I was put on ondansetron (Zofran) like you mentioned. However, it only sort of helped me with prevention of nausea - it was still there a lot of the time.
I do think it's worth journaling and seeing if there are any correlations with what you eat or drink while on the semaglutide and your nausea. I did see it occur more when eating out and sometimes when I drank something alcoholic.
For this second time on the medication (since I did lose 53 pounds on it and my insurance is covering it again), a pharmacist is directing me to go very, very slowly titrating up in dose. It's making a big difference. He is having me take each dose for three months. The progress level is crazymaking - really not losing yet - but the side effects are so much better with giving my body a chance to become accustomed to each dosage.
Have you and your doctor looked at the option of slowing your titration up at all?
