I have asked for the CYP2D6 test also. I am just going to keep trying. If I get the denied I will appeal. Usually when I get denied I just give up in frustration. This time I will keep trying!
@jardinera25 My oncologist agreed to prescribe a half-dose (10 mg) of Tamoxifen for me (I'm 72) because he said that the large clinical trials currently being conducted indicate that lower doses of Tam are in the future.

2 ReactionsI too would like info on this lower dosage trial. Two years ago at 78 y o, my surgeon recommended a mastectomy and reconstruction. I refused
In 12 days, I’ll turn 80, have a new surgeon, and an appointment with a new med onc.
This is on my agenda for certain!! Same thing happened with fractions of radiation— they’ve been vastly reduced in the standard number prescribed. Some of us remember those days, and some are living with the results of too much radiation. Live & learn…
I wish you the very best and please know you’ll be in my prayers.

3 Reactions@mimi09 yes, I am 72 & was diagnosed in August with stage 1 ILC. Had lumpectomy & 5-day radiation & now take half-dose (10 mg) of Tamoxifen. It's all been pretty easy & no real side effects. I agree, treatments are getting better!

5 ReactionsOn my own I have taken 5 mg of Tamoxifan a day, but stopped because I was having aching in my joints.
Due to the success of the trials, my doctor changed my rx from 20mg for 5 years to 10mg for 3 years. I was diagnosed with DCIS at 44 and had lumpectomy and radiation.
