Chronic itch with no medical reason

Posted by mmoffatt @mmoffatt, 1 day ago

Does anyone suffer from a chronically itchy scalp, arms and end of the nostrils with no known medical reason? I've been to a dermatologist and an allergist, and have had a full battery of tests. I do not have dry skin and have tried a multitude of products. Anyone else in the same situation?

@mmoffatt: I have been in discomfort for a couple weeks with itching (arms, legs, back, torso). I can not identify a cause & relief from topical creams do not last long, nor relief from benedril or allergy OTC.
Any remedy, medication or cause that you discover will be very helpful to me… please share. dbamos1945

It's not unusual for pain medications or other medications to cause itching. Could you be taking anything that might be the culprit?

Does anyone have a chronic rash and itch in the perianal area? I have had this going on 2 years after I had gut surgery at the Cleveland Clinic. I had 2/3 of my large intestine removed and gut malrotation correction surgery and had a lot of diarrhea for a long time after the surgery. My skin just won't heal in that area. Has anyone dealt with this and was able to get better? Thank you

A dermatology consult could offer exam and treatment for anal itch
and rash. Suggest a gentle cleanser like cetaphil on the final tissue wipe.
An add on bidet from Amazon or Costco is very helpful and easy to install
on your present toilet. It rises the toilet seat height a couple of inches.

It might be caused by products that you were using, and not realizing they are the problem. Have you changed shampoos? In the past, I have had a lot of issues with that.. And that could be a reason why tippy your nose also itches from Shampoo running down as you Wash.
Do you shower or take a bath at night shortly before going to bed? That could help to wash off the chemicals that you’ve been exposed to during the day. Laundry soap and softener if you use any, could also be the problem.
I would say no perfumes Or body washes.
Perfumes can be the cause of many things because we do not know what is in them because they are not made in the United States. The companies will not give you any ingredient list of perfumes or body washes. That’s a fragrance. Are there any dyes in your products?
I’ve done all of this and it has helped tremendously.
Wish you a very best

@aliveagain You are so right! Medications and even over the counter drugs can cause itching and other problems. A good idea is to read the side effects and ingredients of every medication and over the counter items that one uses. It might explain some of the issues people are having.
