Most portables only go to a pulse setting of 5. I have an Oxlife Independence that goes up to 6 on pulse and 3L on continuous. It is a device on wheels that I pull behind me. I can go up and down steps with it. I set mine at pulse of 5 when sitting and 6 when walking. It works for me. It is my favorite POC. It has weight to it and holds 2 batteries, so I get 1:45 minutes to 2 hours before I need to change batteries. I have 12 batteries with that unit because I travel frequently.
Earlier this year I bought an Oxlife Liberty 2 that goes up to a pulse of 10 and continuous up to 2L That unit I set at 7 when sitting and 10 to walk. It eats through batteries. I have 4 batteries with that unit. Each battery last 45-60 minutes. It is a purse sized unit and it is heavy. I also bought a carrier with wheels so I can pull it behind me. I mostly use that device when in the car and can have it on my car charger.
Some people can’t use a POC on pulse. They must use a continuous flow. Not sure why. I hope you can find something other than tanks that will work for you. It gives me so much freedom to have these POC’s. Best of luck to you! Breathe well!
@crystalena I use an inogen 5000 and it goes to 5. They work differently from the auto one in your home. That one and oxygen bottle push the air flow continually. The portables only work when you are inhaling. You have to be careful to inhale through your nose. and no they are not as good as the electric operated or bottles.
@jerdonus I had a portable that did not deliver enough oxygen for me. It was an enogin . I always inhale through my nose , I need 4 ltrs - 24/7. I prefer the tank. I need my oxy to stay at good levels. I was very frustrated with settings on the portable. I did use it on pulse . There are no settings for liters. They were just numbers on a dial . If I turned it up to 5 or 6 , it pulled in more outside air and was unable to separate the oxygen .
My levels actually went down. And they are noisy. I feel safe with my tank. I am not a fashion fuddy duddy. It is just fine . I do very well with it. I don’t go out much and I like it that way . I have spent a great deal of time in my life being alone . I do not entertain people at my home . I really don’t want to be exposed to them. So far , I have every thing I need . Thank you all for input. I do appreciate it. Peace and Love, Crystalena
Rehab!!! go to rehab-they help and force you to get as good as you are going to. It took me months to get back after covid-pneumonia-and COPD! I'm 82!
