Why do I cough up mucus at the end of every meal?
I have researched, but failed to find out why at the instant I complete any meal, I begin to cough up mucus. Most embarrassing!

Probably GERD.
I have Acid Watcher book.
I thought I had under control until I started airway clearance.
Now I burp a lot! When I wake up in morning feel as if my food hasn't digested.
Using a wedge, trying not to bend over at waist, stop eating after 7pm.
All these things use to help.

I had this and the problem was reflux, which was exacerbated by lots of coughing. My GI doctor told me to take twice my usual dose of Pepcid to settle things down, then go back to my usual dose. It worked - as long as I don’t lie down soon after eating, or I don’t get really bad coughing spells, in which case I take extra Pepcid again.
I hope you find relief soon so you can enjoy eating again.
I’ve had the same experience. Mine was from acid reflux. I couldn’t drink cold drinks without problems too. I took acid reflux meds for a couple years then developed such a wheezing with cough that I had to stop the medication. I couldn’t figure out why my nebulizer treatments weren’t working. Going off the medicine helped. I even cough less.
As a result I have to watch what I drink or eat. I do think drinking 3 liters helps along with airway clearance.

@olga1982 Hi, I take Pepcid to help with reflux, but it still doesn't stop me from having mucus after eating. Drinking water during meals sometimes helps.
@v
morton I don't know now nothing ,this mucus so terrible coming from throat .my doctor said that can be postnasal drip .but I don't know really trouble this mucus
When that feeling of mucus stuck to my throat causes cough, ipraprotium nasal spray or azelastine nasal spray helps. So I think it’s post nasal drip- especially when it’s humid( Chicago area) and allergens are attacking. Ipraprotium nasal spray was prescribed by the nose throat doctor. Yes it dries me a little but not super strong but seems to help with the cough.
@ainekrech One gastroenterologist said I had Acid Reflux, due to finding a lesion he felt was caused by the acid reflux, after the colonoscopy. He wanted me on a PPI but I chose not to start it.
Then a year later I had been told I don't have Acid Reflux after the 24 hour Acid Reflux Test with catheter and monitor.
I believe I have LPR, Silent Reflux . I have not taken medications for LPR or GERD.
Eating and drinking liquids causes me mucus which I am nearly clearing all day long. I am nearly eating all day long to keep my weight on or in trying to gain more weight.
I am curious what you have found, for yourself, what foods/drinks you feel you have to watch.
Glad you posted.

Please be sure and do not use a straw when you’re drinking fluids as it’s easy for the liquids to get into part of your lungs and cause coughing.
