I assume this is the right group. I have never discussed this with anyone but my grandson yells at me about it. When I get very stressed, I sometimes scratch my arms or face. I haven't done any real harm. It is a way to relieve stress when it gets to be too much. I cannot tolerate anxiety or depression medicines which I assume would be a doctor's answer. Does anyone else deal with this?

@merpreb Hey Merry- I take a narcotic for pain. I think I’ve taken them for so long now that they’re not helping anymore.

@karen00- Morning Karen. Maybe it's time to speak with your doctor to change something. I don't believe that it's necessary to deal with pain. I also don't believe that it indicates how strong a person is. We all have a different nervous system, one that we are born with.
What do you think?

@merpreb Hi Merry, thank you so much for checking on me!!! It means the world to me. Yes, pain keeps me from being active, both mental & physical. You are already helping by keeping up with me!!! Thanks for the link. My doctor has added an anti anxiety pill - small dosage to my regimen. My sleep has greatly improved and the attacks have gone away! I feel lots better! I wanted to wait until I saw how I did before answering you. So far, so good!! Again, thank you my friend!.....Karen

Hi, @karen00 - here are some instructions on how to send a private message (PM) on Connect, any time you wish to do so:

At the bottom of any Connect page, go to Get Started on Connect on the left side of the gray box, https://connect.mayoclinic.org/get-started-on-connect/, then scroll down to How to Send a Private Message and click on the plus (+) sign beside it to the right. You'll note the following directions:

You can send a private message to another Connect member or group of members.
1. Click the member's username. This will bring you to the member’s profile page.
2. Click Send Private Message.
3. Write a subject and your message.
o You can add other members to the private message by typing their usernames in Add Recipients (Do not include @).
4. Click Send Message.

@karen00- Good morning. I'm so glad that you are reaching out to members again even though you seem to be in horrible pain. AM I wrong in thinking that it is pain that is keeping you from being active?
Panic Attacks are the worst! I recently wrote about ways to stay grounded to help get through these horrible times. IF you haven't read it here is another link to help: https://drsarahallen.com/7-ways-to-calm/
If you google grounding techniques there are more sites with many more suggestions.
Can I help in any other way? What does your doctor say about your present state?

@merpreb Hi Merry, I need help. Nights are the worse. We got down to 1 tomato, 1 potato, and 3 cans of soup. I crave meat! Every time I get into bed, I wonder if I’m going to be able to get into a bed at the shelter (still have swelling from edema). And I’m still on oxygen. Will my oxygen keep others up? What about Kelly (my dog)? My friends have really let me down. Maybe I was being unrealistic, but I thought someone would offer to let us stay with them until things settle down. My faith is waning. Can you please just correspond with me? It helps to share ! Thanks

@karen00- I'm so sorry that your situation has deteriorated so badly. This must be very very frightening. Where is your brother? Is he with you? What and how are you feeding your pet? Will your friends at least take care of your pet? You need to go to a soup kitchen, is there one that you can get too? We can chat all you want and I'm sure others will want to help too. Where are you staying right now?
