Just diagnosed with PACS and I'm scared

Posted by Love for camping @muppet7777, Mar 22 1:03pm

Had 24 hour holtor monitor. Results came back...91583 qrs complexes, 1930 isolated supraventricular beats. No runs, no ventriculars, zero episodes of atrial fibrillation. Sinus rhythm throughout with moderately frequent PACs (listed at 2% of all beats). No diagnostic ST segment shifts. Of the 1930 supraventricular beats, 1830 of them were in the first 7 hours of wearing the monitor. Family doc said not to worry but its hard not to. Do these results seem benign or should i worry??? HELP PLEASE

@aard Thank you so much for your reply. I hoping after my Family Doctor appointment that he can get me a referral to a Cardiologist. It will probably take months. Im going to write down what you said so that i cant bring it up at my appointments. It feels like my anxiety is a huge cause but i need to know more.
Thanks again!!

@muppet7777 You can always go to Emerg if you have symptoms. They take heart conditions seriously, and usually right away. Meaning you'll get a 6 or 12 lead ECG right away with a reading, and an internist will come by and tell you what's going on . That becomes your formal diagnosis, at which a cardiologist's referral will just center around management or treatment. You needn't wait months to see a cardiologist, especially if your heart rate (HR) runs above 100 beats per minute (BPM) for 24 hours or longer. If that happens you need to go to Emerg.

@gloaming
I went to emerge the first time it happened. I was given an ecg. Doc said i was throwing PVCs and told me not to worry about it. He was also the one who referred me to hospital to have holter monitor where it came back with the results ive posted. My family doctor even said not to worry about it. My heart occasionally pounds but not fast. Just steady and hard at times...like right now. BP is good. I know i have crazy heart health anxiety and im going through it right now. Anxiety sucks 😪Ugh

Ok...random question. I like beer and i haven't had one since these stupid PACs started. Do you think a beer or two would be a bad idea?

Start with one. See what happens. I can't say a little makes any difference.

I've worn a Fitbit for couple of years. My average resting heart rate is 48-51 any given day. My minimum is 38-40 while asleep. I feel fine. When I visited Mayo last year my doc expressed no concern, just a "See you next year". You are safe!

@lmt1 thank you for the reassurance. I have a family doc appointment in a couple weeks. Just wanted to clear things up. I have terrible health anxiety if you couldn't already tell 😔

@muppet7777 I too miss having the occasional beer or a glass of wine. My son turned me on to an outstanding nonalcoholic beer that comes across very much like Guinness and it’s available nationally. It is Black Butte out of Bend, Oregon.

I haven’t been able to find a decent nonalcoholic wine that is any better than good old grape juice.

I am actively looking for what triggers my PCVs
