What's your experience with Ozempic or Saxenda for weight loss?
Hi Everyone
I am thinking of taking either of the above medication to help with loosing weight. I am 100lbs overweight . In the past I had bariatric surgery however it was unsuccessful.
With either Ozempic/Saxenda , what kind of eating plan is most successful and I would have huge concerns about getting the necessary nutrients/ vitamins to help support the weight loss journey.
Has anyone any experience of using the above medication and how did it work out for you. Any information is appreciated. Thank you Etna

Hi @tracyntheo - welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. I moved your post here so you could connect with others talking about saxenda (Ozempic), such as @projfan @cntrlcoastgirl @etna @beachy and others. I'd also like you to meet @roch. They can speak to whether they have experienced or heard of elevated liver enzymes or benign lung nodules after use of these shots.
It sounds as though your doctor is unconcerned, then? When will you have the PET scan and biopsy, if that is done?

The cost is too great for me. $24,000 a year is too steep

I am curious if the Miralax continues to work after a longer time? I have Type 2 and took Ozempic 2MG for over a year; my pcp switched me to mounjaro 5mg and now I have very significant constipation. The pcp then had me take senna - only a small improvement. I would be interested your progress with Miralax and hearing from anyone else that has had similar side effects with fairly low level mounjaro….
@bournejr
I’ve been using MiraLAX occasionally for about five or six years. I take a lot of drug drugs and some of them cause constipation. I take 2 Colace twice a day and one Senna twice a day and they usually keep me fairly regular but every few days I need to use MiraLAX after I have not gone for two days. It works pretty quickly almost all the time within two or three hours I’m ready to go.
You don’t need to buy the brand name MiraLAX there are much cheaper options available with the exact same ingredients.

Hi Jeff:
This is very helpful. However, I worry a bit about my doctor really doesn’t like my taking much of the senna - I do have some Colace, I might try, My doctor is really against Colace,….. I’m wondering if I got up to 7.5 MG (which he pcp wants me to do) if it will get any better (i suspect not).

2 ReactionsI was on Ozempic and now Mounjaro. It has been a game changer for me. I haven't lost a massive amount of weight but my glucose levels are maintained.

I’ve been taking Senna for many years. Did the doctor explain why he didn’t like it? I’ve taken Colace at the same time.
Senna moves the stool through your body by increasing muscle contractions and colace softens it.
