Do you have vivid dreams with your PD?
@chrisj2491 @caryp43 @denie57 @johnjames @trouble4343 @tntredhead @aperob @hdruss @retairforceman @macbeth. Hello all! I just read a post from one our Parkinson's spouses about extra activity at night and it got me to wondering how many others out there have very vivid dreams at night that might disrupt sleep and cause problems. If you have, please feel free to share your experiences. If you have found a good way to deal with it (meds, etc.) we would like to know about that as well.

@bmfoster my husband takes 40mg of melatonin and he still has disruptions in sleep and talks out loudly and jump with his dreaming I guess. He has a lot of trouble getting to sleep because of arm jerking. They changed him from his extended carbido lepedopa at night to now taking 3 pills four times a day. If this doesn’t help they have another new med they want to try but have to get it pre approved and we have a virtual appointment in a couple weeks to see if this change of meds helped.

While I do not have nighttime sweating, I do have sleep problems. I have found that a magnesium powder at bedtime is very effective (also helps with constipation). You can find magnesium powders at most grocery stores that sell supplements, at health food stores, or online. The one that I've used is called "Calm." As it is a nutritional supplement, no prescription is needed. Magnesium is a great supplement for many issues. Magnesium powders are mixed with liquids and are absorbed quickly.

I would suggest asking your husbands Movement Disorder Neurologist about Clonazepam for REM Sleep Behavior Disorder. It worked wonders for me.

2 Reactions@bmfoster mmm I just looked it up and maybe why they haven’t suggested it is because he takes oxcodone for his severe severe scoliosis. But it sounds like it would help because I’m not sure he doesn’t get panic attacks when he doesn’t go back to sleep right away or wakes up from the dream. Yet also I have to say when he was hospitalized for his bone marrow cancer he really freaked out with hospital stays and probably some PSD. Yep he is a mess. But exercises 2-4 x a week despite it all.
