Hi, I’m new to this group. I’m having chronic pain in my legs. Initially, it started with sitting for long periods of time of more than hour. I have had several tests done. No conclusive results.
My symptoms are:
Aches sharp pains in my legs randomly or sitting for long periods of time.
Warm feet and hot feet. Driving I take my shoes off to relieve pain.
Restless legs, especially at night going to bed.
Black brownish Markings on my legs.
Currently taking Gabapintin which helps some along with magnesium supplement. I take a high blood pressure medication. I also wear compression socks.
Anyone have similar issues and found anything specific to releave pain?
@ginger123 May I ask what kind of injection is planned -- an epidural (cortisone) or some other medication that is autoinflammatory in nature? Thanks! (I have lower back issues with compressed vertebrae and bulging disks, plus scoliosis that give me weakness in my legs, same on the left leg as the right. Surgeon suggests implanting metal rods in my back, with a year long recovery period. I'm a 78 year old male. I don't like the way that looks, want some alternatives.
@a757contrail Have you tried Cymbalta for the pain, or has it been at least suggested? Seems like gabapentin is so often prescribed that one might consider it the drug of choice for the chronic leg and back pain.
@laughlin1947 I think it’s going to be a hip injection with a steroid and lidocaine. Another possibility is PRP therapy. Might ask about that….. it’s using your own blood, and they spin the platelets out, and reinject into the problem area.
I am suffering too from leg shin pain. A few weeks ago there was discussion on here that I am looking into in regard to fluoroquinolone antibiotics which is the basis of several antibiotics including Levaquin and cipro. I have taken both about five to seven years ago. These antibiotics do have the side affects of tendon and muscle pain even years later. There is a class action suit against the company which I think is Johnson and Johnson. I had never heard of the problem with fluoroquinolone antibiotics before. The gal posting had severe leg pain and several of the replies also had the same problem. You could get a start on your research by doing an AI CoPilot with Microsoft or an AI inquiry with Google Gemini. Or a plain search with Google. So much information out there, that I can't believe I had not heard about it before. I believe my leg pain is my tendons, because I raised the tension on my exercise bicycle. I realized a couple weeks later that might be the problem because my feet do not hurt, just my legs. I had tendonitis 20/25 years ago in my left arm and the pain feels the same. I have just started looking into this and have not discussed it thoroughly with a pain doctor. But, will soon. It seems that regular doctors have not heard of the fluoroqinolone after affects. Maybe there should be a permanent post here on Mayo Connect, because it does seem wide spread.
@starbright375
Mine are both legs waist down all way to toes, problem is they can figure it out and body is offsetting the problem to walk which is another issue the physio said. I have been researching and reading so much, April will be 2 yrs of medical MRI’s with and without contrast, ultrasounds, blood test, CT scans with and without, PET showed abnormal cells though.

1 Reaction@rponcelet It sounds like you have been through a lot. I know what you mean about reading. YouTube has so many videos and they are all long. I believe mine is nerve damage to my tendons. I am going to try Vitamin B12 which does not fix them right away, if that is the problem. But, from what I read that is the basis for most pain. It took years to get in that condition and will take a while to get back into shape. Some readers were doing the daily Vitamin B12 injections daily and then once a week for a month or so. I will just try the Vitamin B12 with methylcobalamin. The Vitamin B12 found in one a day vitamins is a cheaper and easier to include than the methylcobalamin which comes in stronger strengths, which I will be taking. From what I read Vitamin B12 is not stored and eliminates what the body does not need. Will see what happens with that for awhile and take a small magnesium tablet too since that is not in my daily vitamin and also helps muscles. I am not suggesting anyone else do this. I will be talking to my doctor about it in about a month when I see him again. It is just what I read from quite a few sources. I wish you well with finding out the results of your PET scan.
@starbright375 I recommend Magnesium Glycinate and Methylated B12

3 Reactions@blowerk1216 thank you. I will be taking Magnesium Glycinate and the Methylated B12. I have to find out when to take the Magnesium, on an empty stomach or with food. I will be dissolving the B12 under my tongue so stomach acid won't disrupt the absorption. I understand this is not a quick acting solution to get my circulation back to good working order. Just taking pain pills does not solve the problem which is what has been happening. I hope this works well for me as it has with so many other people.
@starbright375 I take the magnesium just before bedtime
