Anyone taking Mirtazapine? Is it working for you? Any side effects?

Has anyone been taking Mirtazapine? Like to know if they have taken themselves off and how did you do it?

I took it for several years. It was not effective at all.

I am currently taking it and I have had no problems.

I took it for three weeks and I felt like I was in a nursing home spaced out…. In La La Land and that was just on half a dose. It certainly didn’t help with memory. I could sit and stare at the walls and not even care. Not for me. I’m only 70.

I have been on 45 mg for about 2 years . It helped my stomach issues.

Yes, I’ve been tapering off 300mg Trazodone while introducing Mirtazapine. Of course, under Doctor care. And it is effective for me & no side effects. I’m so glad I spoke to my primary care provider about the issue I was experiencing & they heard me.

I used to take mirtazapine and gained weight and could never really loose it while on the med. Later an internist MD, not the prescriber, told me it is sometimes used for elderly women who don’t have an appetite. I think it also made me feel drugged the next morning quite often.

I have the same symptoms as you have. What dosage are you on? I was on 30mg and have started to reduce it to 22.5mg.

@cmarts Good day. I take 45 mg of Mirtazapine at night and usually have a headache the next day around 0500 pm or so which I take 2 extra strength Tylenol to combat this with. It’s not a severe headache, about a five or 6 on the pain meter but it will linger if I do not take the the Tylenol 500 mg X 2. Occasionally I have to take 4 over the course of the day if the headaches start earlier in the day. Just wondering if anyone else has these adverse affects on the drug. Should I decrease the dosage to 30? I’m a little reluctant to do so as I am still having anxiety with 45 and don’t know if lowering the dosage might help or make matters worse.

@dave14 I have just been on 15 mg a short time but have mild headache in the morning that Tylenol fixes. I would get your doctor’s input on reducing. Mine said reducing dosage will cause more grogginess but I don’t know about anxiety.

@joetex thank you! I jumped from 15 to 45 too quickly in my opinion. I will speak with her about reducing to 30 and hopefully the anxiety will not worsen. If it does I can always scale down and try something else. Thanks for your reply!
