Ranolazine & Vericiguat (Verquvo) for Heart Failure

Posted by jimadman55 @jimadman55, Mar 4 7:24pm

Saw a new cardiologist today. I have had heart failure since 2018. My PVC burden is 12%. My PAC. Burden is around 6%. New doctor wants to change my meds. He says the Metropolol and Corlanor are old drugs and are not helping me. Metropolol just makes me have fatigue. Wants me to start a drug called Ramada 250mg twice a day and Vericiguat 5 mg once a day. Is anyone presently taking these meds and are they helping your heart function improve?
With Gratitude, Jim Ellis

Hi @jimadman55

I would like for you to meet @jc76 who has discussed living with heart failure.

You are processing a lot of new information. How are you feeling?

I would ask pharmacist or ask for pharmacist consult. That is what I did

I assume your I.D. is not literally 😍

I think I may have responded to your message before but was not sure. I was diagnosed with heart failure all the way back to 2000. Been through a lot but still kicking 26 years later. I am on a ICD/Pacemaker so I am on additional medicates for that. My heart failure doctor does not have me on either of your medications.

Are you under the care of a heart failure specialist. They specialize in heart failure. They will look for newest and greatness medications. For my heart failure medications. My Mayo HF specialist put me on Entresto and Carvedilol (Coreg) which are per him the latest and most effective for heart failure. I take some others to contribute to that treatment Jardiance and Eplerone (spell on that one). The Jardiance and Eplerone are to help reshape the heart. The Carvedilol (spell) and Entresto are to maintain heart function.

My EF ejection fraction has stayed the same for last 10 years. I am quite active. Do you have access to A.I.? You can type in those medications and get a pretty good research on them for you. I use Microsoft Co-Pilot and really like it as when they do respond they will list were the information came from.

WEB MC is also another site you can type in a medication and get information on it.

Do you have access to a heart failure specialist? Not saying your present doctor is not excellent it is just that there are special cardiologist out there who treat heart failure. I was told takes another year of training to be certified.

No that is my real user name. I owned a ad agency for many years. So that’s where adman came from. I was 55 when I took the user name. I am now 75 and was diagnosed in 2018.

@jimadman55

You see it as ADD MAN. When I looked at your user name I saw ji them madman55. So I thought your user name was madman.

Thanks for clarifying. Was not question your right to pick your user name at all. I see them all over the place and some I find funny and laugh. I thought yours was your initials and the MADMAN. When what you posted was your initials jim and then adman55. Still gave me a smile.

Hello Jim,

If you don't mind me asking, are the new meds you have been prescribed Ramipril (Altace) and Vericiguat (Verquvo)?

If so, I'd like to invite @heycal and @4aces4me who talked about their experiences with Ramipril on Mayo Clinic Connect.

@jimadman55, besides your fatigue that you are experiencing, how are you otherwise feeling? Are you able to remain active, or is that the reason for the change so that you can feel less fatigued and get back to a routine?

Thank you @jimadman55, in that case I would like to invite @briarrose and @myhearthealth24 who have both talked about taking Ranolazine on Connect and they may be able to share their experiences.

@jimadman55 - I updated your title to "Ranolazine & Vericiguat (Verquvo) for Heart Failure" to help Connect members who may have experience find your discussion as well.
