Repatha side effects not believed
Repatha for 16 months and results are amazing however, leg pain, calf pain, started 3-4 ago.
Sore, stiffness in thighs and calves.
I won't mind so much but my doctor insists it is NOT related to medication.
I have statin intolerance, my blood work with geno test shows this.
Why does my doctor not believe me when I say I'm having leg pain suddenly after no other apparent reason?
Am I crazy, am I wrong? 60yr old male with CAD, CAC score over 2k but no blockage all less then 70%, no chest pain.
We believe my 1 of 4 parathyroids, remove in 2001, caused calcium to enter blood was having very high serum calcium levels before being removed. Still have 3 parathyroids with not ill effects but damage has been done.
Can these side effect appear months later as mine have or I can it be something else?

@dinardoefd Actually there are many after market reports of side effects that aren't listed in their study. Muscle and body pain are listed in their study. You need to be your own advocate because all of us are different and may have unique side effects.

1 Reaction@gently Spot on response. After 2 shots I got scared that the side effects were causing permanent damage so I stopped. Its been a month and the side effects are still present. It takes over 90 days to get this out of your system. The more injections the higher blood levels build up and more side effects appear.

1 Reaction@cooter 7 months? That's awful!
I’m a little late to this string, however, I feel awful as in fatigue, headaches. I’ve got a laundry list of comorbidities, which doesn’t help. I had two doses and felt positively awful so I stopped for about 8 weeks. I restarted three weeks ago and again, my general level of fatigue feels increased significantly.
I’m thinking I can retry statins. I’ve not had or been offered genetic cardiac testing.
I did just receive a comprehensive pharmacogenic profile as part of a long time biobank study I’ve participated in for years. I’ll give that a look this weekend. Maybe it’ll be telling.
I just need to understand if I should stop again. I have health issues and this is compounding everything. I’ve got a bladder issue I’m trying to get resolve on that should help me sleep.
Fingers crossed and my best wishes to you all.

1 ReactionI have been taking Repatha since October 2025 and Saturday 2-8-26 during the night I need to get out of bed to urinate and when I got out of bed and stood up the left side of my neck felt like someone jabbed a knife in it and I had to put my hand over it because I thought my carotid artery was going to burst.

2 ReactionsDunno. Hives, rash, runny nose (on box). Not like your report. Read the insert label. Also, the majority of pharmacists will give you the straight scoop.

@dinardoefd He works for you remember that.! I would fire him and go to another cardiologist. I had to do that. I did not want to be on statins because of the memory issues they cause. My doctor told me that’s not true even though I had read many articles. My mother has Alzheimer’s so it’s a real concern. She also was on statins for years. Well I was at a healthcare conference and a research pharmacist was speaking. I went up to him afterwards and asked do statins cause memory loss and he said, “absolutely!” I have a 0 calcium score. I am now with a female cardiologist who is willing to listen and we come up with different solutions together other than statins.

2 ReactionsHi @debirene. I love hearing you comment that you and your current cardiologist come up with different solutions together. Care plans tailored to the individuals are the best!
I share your concerns about Alzheimer’s, and really dementia in general. The older I get and the more I recognize in my family….well, the more serious I all decisions seems to become.
Do you take Repatha, and if so how are you doing? What solutions have you and your cardiologist discussed, and what is next for you?
You are not alone. I took Crestor for 4 months before I had muscle and leg pain and I was not believe either. They look at you like your crazy and insist it is something else but cant tell you what. All Statins do that to me so now I am on Repatha. i have started taking Repatha 3 months ago and developed some mild symptoms but hoped they would go away. I finally went to my doctor last Thursday with multiple symptoms that were never there before, excessive sleeping, hunger, sweating, dizziness, weakness and headaches. My doctor is doing multiple blood tests to make sure it is not anything else and a Halter Monitor. I have familial hypercholesterolemia.
YOU are NOT alone, tell them. With other meds if I am gonna have side effects, I have them within a day or two but with these drugs it has taken months.
All you can do is keep pushing until they fine something that works and doesnt cause diabetes. Good luck
