HCM and Dizziness

Posted by mss1779 @mss1779, Mar 15, 2023

Just looking for others who have had similar experiences. I have HOCM, a peak gradient of 70 and have an appointment in Cleveland Clinic at the end of this month where I'll opt to have a septal myectomy I believe. Today I've had awful vertigo feeling, not so much dizziness just this vertigo everytime I move or bend over. No other cardiac symptoms though. Heart rate and BP are in normal range and have no other symptoms. I take 10mg of Propranolol 2x daily which has given me some side effects like this but nothing to this degree. Saw a walk in clinic for inner ear issue maybe and they said just some fluid behind the ears which could cause this but I'm not sure. Anyone been In similar situations?

Thank you for your hugs and comments

I’ve been on an insulin pump and glucose monitor for 25 plus years. I go to specialists for that as well as other diabetic complications. I’ve maintained a very healthy lifestyle and diabetes under great control. Have had many complications over the years and was doing great until this HOCM diagnosis

Not sure how to deal with this disease. Seeing specialist and to me future looks crappy.

Please do contact them, have an intake session and they will help you navigate this inherited disease. We all want to live our best lives and acquire the tools to do so. Best wishes.

I just got diagnosed with HOCM and first tried Metroprolol which I could not tolerate at all. Now on Verapamil for 2 weeks. First week was good but now my dizziness is worse than prior to starting

Top it off I’m a type 1 diabetic under great control and now my blood sugar all over the place

Also, don’t see how to deal with this

I am also on verapamil, and i have bouts of dizziness, i know what you mean , i wonder how a person can tell if they are dizzy due to medication or to the heart having problem circulating oxygenated blood?
