Questions about the Fodmap Eating Plan - any success stories?
I will be starting on the fodmap eating plan next week and I'm looking for some suggestions about following this plan for the first four weeks. Did you have the guidance of a dietician? Did you find any books, recipes, YouTube videos that helped you? I'm also wondering how you went about the addition of foods after the four-week restricted period?
Any success stories (I'd really like to hear them). Anything that was particularly helpful or difficult for you?

Yikes, really, scrambled eggs four times a day? Wouldnt that lead to malnutrition? I feel for you. It's so frustrating.
It seems most of us with SIBO are on our own. I spend way too much time trying to find solutions but the medical world just has been no help at all. I tried ryfaxin and it seemed to make my symptoms worse. The only thing for me is to follow the fodmap diet.
Has anyone tried the enzymes that you sprinkle on your food and it supposedly makes everything ok? Sounds too good to be true.
I haven't done the 4 week elimination thing mostly because I can't find a dietician who specializes in SIBO that my insurance covers. I do follow the fodmap diet that I've sort of learned by trial and error as to what I can and cannot digest. Garlic and onion are big triggers for me. Good luck. I'll be very interested in learning if the process works for you.

I share all your frustrations...... it can take over your life. I am so nervous about getting sick that I've really restricted my diet and have lost 15lbs... trying not to lose any more.
@hallward I have learned that SACCHAROMYCES BOULARDII helps with SIBO. Also oregano oil under the tongue. Best of luck.
I agree with sm80 that the book by Dr. Mark Pimentel and dr. Ali Rezaie, “The Microbiome Connection” is very good and helps explain how the body works in dealing with our problems. One note: while garlic is bad ( in solid form) one dietitian recommended garlic infused olive oil, and that seems to be a non problem.
I have also started using supplements to fight the problem and one of the effective supplements which most agree, is Allicin (garlic). I asked a chat bot “What supplements help is dealing with IMO?” received a whole series of referenced supplements including Oregano Oil, Allicin, Atrantil and some others. Some attack the archaea, while others help in motility. Seems to help but I’m just starting. Good luck!

Thanks, will look into both. Feels like we are on our own with this condition. My gastroenterologist just wants to do another colonoscopy ..........
@marylandbob
Thanks for the information.
I have tried the garlic infused olive oil and it does not bother me. Also, I have tried sauteing sliced garlic in olive oil and then removing the garlic before continuing with a recipe, and find that works ok as well.
Will look into the supplements.

1 Reaction@annpeters - since you mentioned saccharomyces boulardii, a fungus and probiotic yeast, I thought you might be interested in this article Mayo Clinic published:

2 Reactions@sm80 tried that diet to see if it would help…it didn’t for me then, but I was developing CRC, so docs guided me on other diets along the way.
