Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) - Introduce yourself and meet others
Let's talk about living with rheumatoid arthritis.
As moderator of the Autoimmune Diseases group, I noticed that several people were talking about RA, but those conversations were scattered throughout the community. I thought I would start this discussion to bring us all together in one place.
Let’s grab a cup of tea, or beverage of choice, and let's chat. Why not start by introducing yourself?

Hi Peach @peach414144 -- Have you ever tried Collagen to help with your fingernails? I was using it for joint health and then my wife saw that it also supports healthy nails. She started using it and told me it has made her fingernails a lot stronger. She used to have issues with the nails being brittle and breaking all the time. Might be worth a try. Here's the brand I use....

@colleenyoung How do you start a new conversation I was thinking of an encouraging words from scripture, billboards, poems and other things to share and get through this something like John,s visual effects but with words. Linda
Hi @lioness -- It's easy to start a new discussion. Just go to the group link at the top of the discussion page, click on the group name as in Autoimmune for this group. This takes you to the group page that lists all of the discussions. Then click the Start A Discussion button.
@johnbishop Thanks John.
Hi John. It is so very, very nice of you to think of me and I do appreciate the thought and concern. But, have you ever seen what the nails look like when so affected? (There are some computer sites that do show this.) Wish I could take and send photos. My age and ignorance of this prevents or I would do so. What goes on to the nail would enter in to the skin as it is exposed. The nail is sort of just sitting on the skin and is peeling, pitting and curling around. It can very easily catch on anything and be pulled away. Painful. I really do not think there is anything that can be done until they heal which can be years. I know of others including men that wear the gloves for protection. I know that you are appreciated by many of us who use this wonderful site and I thank you.
I would reach out to Antonella Tosti's office at the University of Miami. She is a dermatologist that is an expert in hair and nails; she has written several books on these topics. She's excellent.
Hi @rarelybees2889 and @elmay there is another discussion on Connect where you can meet others with Sjogren's Syndrome.
Sjogren’s Syndrome – Introduce yourself and meet others - https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/sjogrens/
I encourage you both to join in on that discussion and connect with others who have similar experiences as you with this autoimmune disease.
Hello! I'm Susanne, from Florida, and was diagnosed with RA eight years ago. I've learned, throughout the past 15 years that RA seems to come along with other diseases, doesn't it? I'm excited to see a site specifically for RA. I'm looking forward to hearing, and learning, from others on here
Welcome.
