Aortic Aneurysm or Enlarged Aorta

Posted by beebo @beebo, 5 days ago

I have been getting tested every year for an aortic aneurysm which has remained stable at 3.8 cm. But last visit ( my next one is this coming week) it was referred to as an “enlarged aorta “. Is there an actual difference between the two or is it just different terminology for the same condition? Thanks!

Here’s the description from my Echocardiogram this week:

“There is dilation of the ascending aorta. The ascending aorta measures 4.03 cm. The Sinotubular Junction measures 3.1 cm.

This description is about halfway down a page of other measurements that don’t have much meaning to me.

So I’m still not sure if it’s an aneurysm or an enlarged aorta. Will discuss with Doctor at next month visit.
