Has anyone tried Ketamine for depression?
Hi. My depression is intolerable right now. I started ketamine infusion therapy last August. It helped initially, but it has not really worked for me in about 7 months. I still went to the same clinic for 11 months, which I'm learning is a ketamine mill. I spoke with another doctor/clinic who does intramuscular ketamine treatments and who monitors dosing and patients' reactions very carefully during the treatment (my former clinic did not at all). I swore I wouldn't try ketamine again, after this last run failed and seemed to make me even more depressed. But I have some hope with this new clinic who seems to know what they're doing. I am at the end of my rope here; very depressed. I'm wondering if anyone else on here has experience with this treatment?

I started Spravato mid 2024. I wasn’t sure if it was really working or not for a while. Because my depression has a lot to do with my pain. After I stopped because it was a new year and I was having another surgery. I was feeling slightly better, but my biggest problem. Is I have absolutely no energy and I’m tired all the damn time. I’ve been saying I felt pretty good and I did. But the fact that I still can’t get anything done around my house like I used to is killing me. This summer has been the worse ever. I’ve been married for 25 years this year. My husband is a complete ass he’s no help what so ever. You would think he would help to make things better on me. But hell no. He’s had it good for over 15+ years. I have always done all the cooking, cleaning and ALL THE YARD WORK. Because I loved doing that stuff. But now I can’t because of back which needs surgery now. I’m sorry I’m getting off track. But a few months ago my depression took a total dump. And I was able to go back to Spravato. Which is helping one part of me but the other parts are still hurting. If that helps anyone.
Can I get some feedback from anyone who has done Spravato ?
I have not yet been able to find a doctor that will prescribe spravato to me. It is supposed to be very helpful with pain. Normally, at the pain goes away so does a lot of depression. Good luck with your search. I would definitely try it if I could
I started Spravato treatments in late 2023 and currently get 2 treatments per month. For me it works very well. Shortly after starting, the debilitating weighed down feelings of depression lifted. I would highly recommend it. Fortunately my insurance covers it. I would encourage those with treatment resistant depression to discuss option with their mental health provider.

@marylessard +I have had similar issues. Totally drug resistant - I think the VA has administered over two dozen in the last two years. Then I had 12 ECT treatments 6 bilaterial and 6 multilateral no relief whatsoever, in fact my anxiety and depression are worse. The VA offers Ketamine in some of this health centers, but I have not been successful in arranging anything with them, How does Mayo work? and What is the cost? Does insurance pay anything?
