Is it possible to stay off bone drugs altogether
Wondering if it is possible to stay off bone drugs altogether by taking bone supplements, working out with weights, walking and a bone healthy diet?

I am using Native Path at the moment. I also have used AlgaeCal and OsteoNaturals, which both contain Fortibone. I have been using bone collagen for at least the last year and half. I recently had a DEXA and my bones are still worsening. I workout too but I haven't walked as much as I should and I don't eat enough fruits and vegetables.

4 ReactionsCongratulations on your improved DEXA scan!!!
I’m so sorry you are not seeing improvement. This is such a difficult physical journey we are on and there are no hard and fast answers. So many meds to choose from….or not. Different doctors, different recommendations. It is just s lot!

1 ReactionThank you. I am going to keep fighting for my bones without drugs. I agree with your comment. I have seen posts from woman doing every possible thing to improve their bones, eating right, taking bone supplements, bone collagen, exercising, walking, lifting weights and they see no improvement. Then I have seen comments from woman who do moderate things, like walking and taking bone collagen and they see improvement! I am on all the bone drug Facebook support groups. Some women report improvement from the drugs and no side effects and others, horrible side effects. Its all so complicated and frustrating!

5 ReactionsBecause of the possible side effects of osteoporosis injections and drugs, since I am very sensitive to medications, pain killers, etc., I have chosen to not take Prolia that my PCP keeps pushing me to take. Instead, I have also chosen to take a natural approach. I am using Healthy Bones Co., Vitamin D3/K2-K4, and Native Path Bone Health powder. I follow a healthy diet, foods high in protein and calcium, eggs, yogurt, (sugar free Chobani Greek Yogurt), walking on a treadmill at the gym 2 to 3 miles, takes me 40 minutes , high incline mode, 6 days a week. Also stretching. It is not time for my next DEXA scan yet, but I can tell the curvature in my spine lessened. I recently retired, but am able to be very active. Healthy Bones is a reputable company, and they also have a supplement called Annatrol, which also is for building bones.

1 ReactionI'm doing the same -- doc is really pushing two drugs and only one of my markers is barely in the osteoperosis zone. Taking Calciven, drinking Core Power most days and adding calcium in diet. Orangetheory or 30 min walk every day. Really want to avoid the drugs.

5 ReactionsThank you for your info. I do the same and weight lifting, although I know I haven't walked as much as I should. Best wishes to you on your bone journey!
Hi Everyone,
I am new to this subject. I have been diagnosed with Osteopenia, but a Town Event lately had a set up station and they dx me with osteoporosis. I have had many bone fractures in the last 10 years, including one when I just turned around from my driver's seat to move something in the back seat. 6 months to heal!
Anyway, many fractures of wrists, hands, toes, ribs, much pain and disability.
Any ideas for help? Also I am 85 and in relative good health: normal weight, active, lots of PT any time I break something. Do dental fractures have any relation to this problem?
I would appreciate any advice - thank you!
Margot

1 ReactionAt your age, I'd probably just go on Prolia and stay on it forever. I think you need to take something.
