Has anyone found a treatment that helps with peripheral neuropathy?

Posted by bigjohnscho @bigjohnscho, Jul 1 10:27am

I suspect that everyone on this forum has been searching for a medication that helps their neuropathy and even though you no that all the internet claims are false we continue to waste hundreds of pounds. Desperation is a powerful force. Has any one been fortunate enough to find a genuine treatment. I just can’t believe that there are so many awful people who prey on our vulnerability and knowingly orchestrate such elaborate scams.

I have tried that, didn't help me but I have tried hundreds of dollars of almost all supplements and cannot tell that any of them has helped me any at all, about ready to give up trying to find anything but I would certainly appreciate hearing from anyone that has found something that works, I don't have much pain just numbness in feet and burning, stinging in my legs

Your response fits the only thing that has at least helped at all was every kind of physical movement from Physical Therapy, Massage Therapy, Accupuncture Therapy and every type of equipment that even helps passively like electrical stimulation, elliptical machine, treadmill etc

There are TENS, EMS, EPT foot massagers I am interested in buying in the next month or two. I take hot baths using the jets and a scrub bathbrush for an hour every AM and then rub a compounded gabapentin, lidocaine, NSAiD, topiramate cream when I get out oof the tub and my pores are the most open to take in the cream. That plus gabapentin 900 mg 3x a day has made the zapping/electrical/burning pain much better and now more numb. From my reading, the more you use and move your feet (ankle circles, back/forth, sideways the better.

I think what works for one will not necessarily work for another. Try one or two things and maybe you have one or two things I haven't thought of. Or maybe you do it another way.... I am glad the feet aren't as zapping/electric/burning as it was...I called it restless foot syndrome (as opposed to restless leg syndrome because the sheet, blankets and pillows would be all over the floor most nights. When I got up due to needing to go to the bathroom, get a drink and then I would need to walk around as it actually helps me to walk on these feet as far as the neuropathy pain issues. When it was at its worse, I'd walk around, finally get sleepy but not know it and fall down. While I was 30 lbs heavier, I would "bounce" and bruise but not break. Then I ended up breaking both wrists and dislocating one. It is hard to keep track of all the body parts that have problems, how about all of you?

Has anyone tried the foot massagers. I’ve been looking at Relevastep

I haven’t but have suffered for years & it seems to be getting worse. I have severe pain behind my knee particularly & in my leg. It feels like someone has punched me there & it throbs continuously. I take pregabalin & (codeine occasionally) which slightly deadens the pain. Can’t sit for long periods as aggravating the leg!! It’s horrendous!!

Save your money. There’s no treatment for PN, and there will never be any. The nerves are damaged and they are not going to heal. If you have pain, drugs help, then there are others who have no pain, they just stumble around. All you can do is live with it as it will never get better.

I respectfully disagree. I am getting substantially reduced symptoms using the "Blueprint for Neuropathy" system.

Sorry, I beg to differ with your comment "There's no treatment for PN, and there will never be any."
There is a plethora of research and advice from major legitimate medical organizations that would disagree with you. The specific approach varies depending on the cause and severity of the condition. Treatment aims to relieve symptoms, manage the underlying cause, and prevent further nerve damage.
However I ask that, if you don't believe me, please log onto mayoclinic.org and search for "Peripheral Neuropathy". Scroll down to "Treatment" and see what Mayo recommends.
P.S. This response was not meant to be rude however individuals recently diagnosed with PN need to know there are good treatment options and not to give up!
