Has anyone found a treatment that helps with peripheral neuropathy?
I suspect that everyone on this forum has been searching for a medication that helps their neuropathy and even though you no that all the internet claims are false we continue to waste hundreds of pounds. Desperation is a powerful force. Has any one been fortunate enough to find a genuine treatment. I just can’t believe that there are so many awful people who prey on our vulnerability and knowingly orchestrate such elaborate scams.

My TENS machine works very well for my lower back pain but does nothing for my neuropathy. It actually made my neuropathy worse the last time I used it.
I must remind you all to not forget LDN - low dose naltrexone.
It gets rid of pain but not numbness & has been featured often on this site.
I have boots with ice packs that I use for 20 minutes before bedtime. Purchase on Amazon. They do help turning down the pain issues so I can sleep.
There are so many ways that PN can affect people it’s hard to find anything that works. Some people have miserable experiences and others have mild symptoms. And of course the scammers are making a living with their online cures that do nothing. All we can do is adjust our lives to live with PN and not let it destroy us. I work out at Planet Fitness and the leg press device is keeping my legs in shape. My basic issue with PN is balance, and I’m dealing with it. Stay strong everyone.
I also have non diabetic PN and it seems to be getting a lot worse. Most the time my lower legs feel very tight and at night my knees have a burning sensation. My balance is off and I try to balance exercises. More often now I have burning in my upper legs and forearms. My Neurologist suggested Gabapentin or Cymbalta. Tried them before but to many side effects. Keep moving is the best for me. I am also dealing with Raynaud's and Erythromelalgia so I have to be extra careful with any medication.
I had TKR (L) 2019. Had a rough time too. TKR never felt good. Caved in several times. PT helps somewhat. This year I developed IPN in feet/legs. Worse on TKR side. Exercise is good/maybe just distraction? I’ve tried various prescription drugs, but keep coming back to OTC ibuprofen.
I keep my bedroom cool and sleep with my feet uncovered. In the past I used Aspercream with Lidocaine and it helps for a couple of hours. I recently purchased a tower fan with 9 different speed, very quiet, and I have it directed to blow on my feet at a medium speed. It really helps. The bottom of the fan is blocked by the bed. Just another option. Like many of us we can deal with this better during the day because of distraction but everything magnifies at night. Doing my balancing exercises several times a day. Good thing I am retired, but that is not the way I pictured retirement . Good luck to all of us.
Well I found that an implanted spinal cord stimulator helps me. It’s made by NevroHFX, paid for by Medicare & they can give you a free trial to see if it helps you. Also twice a week I do alpha lipoic acid injections subq into buttocks instead of ALA pills which have absorption problems. That keeps symptoms to a low roar; never eliminates. I am able to sleep and walk. At 84 years old I feel lucky. ALA is something I stumbled on. It’s an injectable med (1cc) I have wife give me. I get a 30ml vial from Empower pharmacy along with needles, 3cc syringes, sharps container & alcohol wipes. Very reasonable out of pocket cost. They were able to get a Dr on their staff to prescribe the medication for me. Most Drs. Have no idea about ALA injections although there is an NIH study that talks about injections. I learned about this from a vitamin store in Sarasota, Fl and then figured out how to eliminate the middle man. You also would need a transfer spike that goes into the vial to allow drawing up into a syringe. There are a couple on Amazon you can buy. Any pharmacist should be able to help you with questions, but best source is Empower which I think has home office in Houston
neuropathy is a symptom and there are 80 kinds of it, so I'm told. I use Voltaren from Amazon that gets me back to sleep in a few minutes. In case your pain is due to arthritis, I use Frankincense and Myrrh also from Amazon that works fast. but my best pain reliever is the recliner! It's a mystery.
I've had CIPN, = chemotherapy induced peripheral neuropathy, with lack of balance, for many years following the large doses of cisplatin needed to save my life from a stage 4 throat cancer. I have found some relief from professionally administered massage, especially for the pain and weakness in my legs. I can't walk without a walker and I can't walk very far even with a walker. But I go to the gym and do the recumbent bicycle for 20 mins and the treadmill for 10 mins (which is all that I can manage now).
