Dilated sinus of valsalva measuring 4.0 cm
Today I found out that in addition to my aortic aneurysm, I also have a dilated sinus of valsalva measuring 4.0 cm. Does anyone have any history of this?

My husband has his aneurysm there , also known as an aortic root aneurysm.
It was stable at 4.00 cm for about 4 years , but grew more in past couple of years, now 4.9
I was told by cardiologist that they do surgery at 5.
I think that 5.00 to 5.5 is pretty standard for doing surgery . My husband is scheduled for open heart surgery in August for the aneurysm and to replace the Aortic Valve … he has moderate to severe valve regurgitation
Prayers🙏🏼
Yes, I have this as well, in addition to an aneurysm in the ascending aorta. The aortic root dilation is smaller. I go in Monday for my 6 month check-up during which they will do another echo. Hoping things have been stable.
Good luck with surgery. If i may ask where is surgery taking place ? Im still looking for a home, im in rural Idaho. Thabks
Mayo hospital in Phoenix
Is he opting for a metal valve? I am having a metal valve and graph done in early July at Mayo in PHX to address a 5.0 root and 4.2 assending aorta aneurysm. I'm 61, was a very active mtn biker and general sports enthusiast until 6 mos ago when I discovered this. Hope to be back at it in Oct!
My husband will be 75 in August… it was recommended that he have a bovine valve .
Which surgeon is doing your procedures?
Kristen Sell-Dotten, is my surgeon. Im going metal since I'm 61 and don't want another procedure in 10- 15 years. But, the downside is I will have to be on blood thinners for the rest of my life. That seems like a small price to play rather than to have heart surgery again in 10 years. Best of luck to your husband who is his surgeon? I'm sure he's going to be great when he recovers from this.
