I do a meditation that teaches how to calm the mind. I do this 30 minutes before bedtime. Last night I was able to back to sleep. This meditation was on the calm app. There are many of them. Anything thing calming the mind, anxiety ect...
Hey Colleen, if you try the sleep hypnosis from your phone make sure that you dim the brightness before you go to bed, the burst of bright light when you turn it on often stimulates the senses into thinking it is morning
4 or 5 sessions. Try as best you can to let your mind relax as you meditate. I also do a session once during the day, which helps me stay calm during the day.

Gloriajean everything Ive read says turn electronics off an hour before you go to bed ,sleep in a cool room, put relaxing music on during this time ,read At times I do take an Advil P.M. at first but dont rely on it. Hope this helps it may take several days before your circadian rhythm turns on. Good luck.

Sound advice! I do sleep in a cool room but it is not a completely dark room. I dont have curtains, so I can see the moon & the stars. Reading doesnt seem to work
.And turning g off the electronics, I do watch and enjoy watching g the news (be it good or bad). Yhis is my strongest habit and one that makes me happy. I wish my body was so tired that I would fall into bed & go to sleep immediately. But now that I'm retired and not really doing enough during waking hours to make my body tired doesn't your body need to feel tired as part of the process of falling asleep? My mind tends to get very creative at night - whi h is very satisfying but not the best time for this to happen.
Cheers! and thanks!!!!
Zzzzzzzz (hopefully)

goodness, maybe the "child" in me comes out bit I dont like - very uncomfortable to be in a totally dark room
Also because of my brain surgery, my balance is not good & I worry about tripping/ falling in a very dark room.

If I am using my Calm app to meditate, I put my IPhone under the blanket.
