Has anyone experienced depression after taking praluent?
Has anyone experienced depression after taking praluent? I recently started this PCSK9 after being on rosuvastatin for 3 weeks and experiencing such crippling fatigue and muscle soreness. I’m a very active 62 year old male and am trying to manage my new life after having had a stent placed in LAD.

@jlharsh I’m not sure why the lipid specialist but I presume they might have a better idea on a medication plan. They haven’t called me yet to schedule an appt.
It will be interesting to see their perspective of what is going with you. Looking forward to hearing what you learn. Are you feeling any better?
Thanks @jlharsh I have my good days and bad. I think I’m getting used to the new normal but hope to receive help from the lipid specialist! Thanks again for your insight and sensitivity to everyone on here.
I reacted poorly to statins after two years. Statins gave me leg cramps and then a diagnosis of necrotizing myositis. They switched me to praluent and ezetimibe. I’m kind of low energy and lightheaded but on so many meds I doubt it is the praluent exclusively.
I am sorry you don't feel well. A friend of mine told me Praluent dropped her LDL 100 points! I hope hpu have such a good outcome.
Last night, I gave myself my second injection and had tingly lips and tongue, so unfortunately, I won't be taking it again.
@roslansky I certainly wish you well in your journey! It sounds so cut and dried that if we take these magical medications that we will experience an extended lifespan. Unfortunately many more of us are affected by them than big Pharma wants us to know. It’s much more difficult to zero in on which med is causing the problem when we are taking multiple meds.
@kallettla I was so hopeful with the praluent and then rapatha would work well with my chemistry but no luck. I hope you can find a path and answer to your particular situation.
Yes, medication has strange side effects sometimes. Praluent, I was told, most people tolerate well. I was very hopeful it was going to be the answer. I see you are in the same boat. My Dad had reactions to medications, too, not that he took many. I have Mast Cell Activation Syndrome usually triggered by artificial fragrance. This was the first medication that I frlg like I was headed toward anaphylaxis. I took 4 Zyrtec, which my allergist told me I could take in an emergency. After 2 hours, the symptoms lessened. I do have an epi pen just in case.
At any rate, I did send off an online report to the FDA explaining my reaction. I hope it helps in some way.
What is necrotizing myositis like @roslansky ?
Did your mouth weirdness go away yet @kallettla ?
Yes, thank you for asking. It went away in 2 to three hours. I did not feel well all day, but tonight, I am feeling much better!
I called the pharmacist and he couldn't tell me what would be the most likely allergen...polysorbate, histadine, or the actual medication.
He also told me there is a statin out now that recently became generic. It is very powerful and has fewer side effects: pitavastin. I will first try the generic Crestor once a week and see what happens. He said people don't always take it daily.
Maybe this will help people. I will put it in a post tomorrow.
