Low Dose Naltrexone and Prednisone for PMR?
My doctor has prescribed LDN and I will be receiving it soon from a compounding pharmacy. I am tapering prednisone, now at 12.5 (from 20 over 4 months) with no pain, although I can feel that PMR is still active. From what I have read, I plan to take 1.25mg of LDN at night, and 10 mg prednisone in the morning, slowly working the LDN up to 4.5 and the prednisone down as reasonably quickly as I can without a flare. Has anyone tried a similar formula? Any advice would be welcome, and of course I will report developments.

Has anyone had experience with purchasing LDN through AgelessRx? I just applied for it through them. I'm awaiting approval. I hope I get it, because I was on Leflunomide to taper off prednisone, but had to stop due to GI issues. Now I'm having flare-ups because I'm only on 5mg per day. I really don't want to up my prednisone dose. My insurance company would not approve Actemra Actpen 162mg/0.9ml Soaj. My rheumatologist isn't returning my calls and hasn't given me any new appointments. I just made an appointment with a Rheumatologist with the medical group my PA is in, but they booked me one year out.
I have used them now for 4 months. No issues. Reorders have been easy
Did your neuropathy come back after you stopped taking it ?
I took LDN for 2 weeks and the neuropathy went away but now 6 months later it’s back.
I stopped for several months and it did not come back. I have started half-doses so as not to take a chance, as the neuropathy was horrendous.
I am curious about LDN for PMR.
Also NAD +?
I'd appreciate any insight, thank you
If you read back through the comments on this thread, Pkalkstein said in reply to that question: "LDN had no discernable effect on my PMR, although it cured my neuropathy and sciatic pain."
@ttutag I started using LDN in March this year. My PMR is getting better, but I believe it has more to do with the il-6 inhibitor, which I started 2 months ago. I will say that the LDN, in combination with magnesium glycinate and a grounding sheet, have completely turned around my ability to sleep well. I consistently am getting 7 to 8 hours of deep restful sleep. I have not been able to sleep this well since my '50s. I'm convinced that sleep is the best medicine, and for that reason alone I'm sticking with the LDN.
@pdxmac thank you very much. do you take the LDN at night? Does it matter?
I will look into grounding sheets 🙂 I agree with you about sleep. If you're not sleeping, you're not healing
I do take it at night, as recommended by the doc. She said I can skip a day whenever I want, but I never do. (She told me that in case I wanted an alcoholic drink - you aren't supposed to mix them).
