Ascending Aortic Aneurysm & Stage 1 Diastolic Dysfunction

I just had an echo done and the aneurysm seems stable. Why can't a stent be put into it instead of open heart surgery? Also what is this stage one about? Thanks! ann

No, I don’t have any symptoms now. I had to have my first aneurysm fixed with open heart surgery. The one I still have doesn’t bother me at all. No symptoms still but my heart has gone into A-fib. I haven’t felt the A-fib either. But I am short of breath on steps and fatigued. I am 81 years old so I guess one has something wrong.
As for your tingling, it might not be related to your aneurism. It’s often said about aneurysms that they are silent until there’s trouble.
I sincerely hope that all goes well for you. If you get a chance I would love to hear how everything works for you.

Thank you so much for getting back to me. Appreciate it so much. Wow, so you had an aneurysm repaired and you still have another one? Where was the one you had repaired and where is the one you have now? Yes I realize that they are silent until trouble and so of course it is making me anxious that I'm getting these feelings and I think maybe the aneurysm could be touching a nerve but as you said best to talk to the doctor. And my scan is early in June so I will know what is what then for sure. I will keep you posted and thank you for your interest in me and my situation. I wish you all the best.

The reason I had open heart surgery was to repair the large aneurysm that could only be reached by that method. The surgery wasn’t nearly as bad as one generally thinks about it. I sent films to Mayo, then Mayo called within days of receiving the films. I was there on a Thursday and the surgery wasn’t nearly scheduled for the following Tuesday. That was the good part…no time to think about it. That was in 2016 and I’m still walking, talking, and having fun.
The other aneurysm is much smaller on the other side..descending thorasic area.

Take care, try not to worry, and the best part is having Mayo as your right hand person.

Carol, thank you so very much for your encouraging message. I'll try my best not to worry and wait to see the results of my scan in june. I'll let you know what the results are at that time. All the best, Diane
