Oral lichen Planus: What home remedies or medications help you?
Anyone in the group suffer from Oral Lichen Planus. I am at my wits end with all these erosive sores in my mouth. I've had two biopsies , one in the inside cheek and one under the side of my tongue. The spot under the tongue is extremely sore to touch and has been for over a year. It scares me because the soreness never goes away, sometimes it isn't as sore but nothing helps. Any home remedies for this dreadful condition?

Warm salt water helps with the healing to a small degree. The last 2 days I filled my dental whitening trays with this Clobetasol Cream and wore them for a couple of yours total over 48 hours. I do see a tiny bit less redness and I believe the gum tissue is not dying away and rotting like it was. I will keep up the routine with great hope.
Would love to know who was more helpful to you, your dentist, a periodontist, a rheumatologist or a dermatologist?
See an ENT. Mine provided education about this disease plus a prescription for medication to help suppress it. The medication works to suppress it so it does not get severe.
Again, see an ENT.
I have been using Dexamethasone Elixir for over 10 years for my LP with great success. It is a corticosteroid mouth rinse that you swish in your mouth for 2-3 minutes then spit it out. You’re not supposed to eat or drink anything for about a 1/2 hour. The bad news is that it is now on back order in Florida…not sure if that applies all over the US…and they Don’t know when it will be available. (Possibly the end of April?)
So my Dermatologist is going to give me a scrip for a different corticosteroid, Fluocinonide 0.05% ad we’ll see how that works. Everyone reacts differently to meds but maybe this is something you can look into? I wish you the best of luck in finding relief SOON!
My sister has dementia and I give her melatonin and was wondering if it would hurt her
I made a mix of Kosher Salt and Baking soda (about 1/2 tsp. Of each and put
it into lukewarm purified water ( 3/4 C)and stirred it well. I rinsed my
mouth after I brushed my teeth with this mixture. It helped exceeding my
expectations. I intend to try it 4 times daily to see if I can reduce the
inflammation and soreness. It's very painful but this helped me be able to
sleep last night. I hope this will help you.
Hello to you all. Well it’s been 9 days I’ve been following the direction of the periodontist with a few additions by me. Still brushing at least twice daily with a super soft electric toothbrush ahead, using the water pick on low, rinsing with the Closys, sucking on the clotrimazole lozenges and filling my dental whitening trays with the Clobetasol Cream and leaving those in my mouth for about an hour. Then I added red light therapy. All of that has made a huge healing difference over the week. I still have red gum rings around my teeth in all 4 quadrants but boy has it all helped the healing.
