Excellent question! I knew at the beginning they listed the difference between what would be a care center and what would be an associated center. I have to dig through previous post and the COPD website.

I wonder if each will have labs to identify and distinguish the type(s) of MAC (the specific type of MAC bacteria) a person has. A lab like those at NJH and Tyler have. Any information on that so far?

I was hoping to see Baylor in Dallas on the list but did not believe I should have my hopes up for one in OKC (OU Medical Center).

There will be a total of 150 centers. I know Baylor is building a strong program so let’s hope they become part of it. And I do not believe they will have labs like UT Tyler or NJH.

Is Mayo Clinic considering adding that at their Jacksonville campus?

There isn’t a public list of centers that have applied.

I believe many will continue to send their specimens to NJH for that final step. It makes a great deal of sense, economically and from a perspective of expertise, to concentrate specialty testing in a few labs.
