Started Repatha - Side Effects
I had terrible side effects with statins (any statin, any dosage). For about 30 years my doctors have pushed statins and
I have resisted. Finally I agreed to Repatha. The first week I had zero side effects. With my second dose, 2 weeks in, i woke up and my joints and muscles hurt a LOT.
1. Does this side effect go away?
2. What do you know about the recent information that the Repatha trials underreporting deaths from cardiac events while taking Repatha.

It will go away, I didn’t have the pressure, but I noticed I had to urinate more often as my body adjusted. It had something to do with getting rid of too many fluids in my body. I was able to lose 32 pounds. I had been so overweight because of all the edema
I wish you luck and best wishes. I finally had to stop it after two failed tries due to severe side effects. For me, if I am unable to go about my day, that’s not living.
I am so happy for you that the side effects went away, but it isn’t accurate that they WILL go away. For some they only get worse, for others they are tolerable, for yet others, like you, they go away. I agree you have to wait to see whether the side effects will go away and make a decision whether you can live with them or not. Regardless, your doctor should be informed of all side effects because some may be damaging. My doctor agrees for me to get off of it when my side effects only worsened.
Please report this to your provider that prescribed the drug and continue to monitor how you are feeling. It may very well go away or it may cause you problems, so staying on top of it until you figure it out is important. I had problems the crept up on me and wish I had been able to connect the dots earlier.
Thank you. I appreciate you sharing.
Thank you for sharing!
It may not go away for her. She should let her doctor know and I hope you did as well. ❤️
Thank you! I agree. Always weighing benefits vs. the side effects which at this point, I’m getting worse side effects daily. Time to make a decision soon.
I understand.
That is my attitude and experience too. To me it’s all about risk ratio. It’s far better to have a few muscle aches than a stroke or heart attack.
I did have a few painful leg muscle spasms while my body adjusted to statins but that did stop.
I start Repatha this month and will not stop while my body adjusts to that. But the vast majority seem to have no issues so I’m not worried. I read the studies.
