Managing fibromyalgia
Hello everyone, I am looking for anyone who suffers from fibromyalgia and can suggest healing methods, medication and I would like to compare symptoms. Mine feels as if I had the flu, headache, joint aches, terribly tired, pain around the glands, stomach pain, low back. If lyou can please write with any comment or suggestion for relief, or any idea what causes it I will appreciate it thank you.

I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia for about 8 years and with all the same symptoms you just described. I felt like I had the flu all the time. Nothing helped. About 6 months ago I started taking vitamins and supplements. One especially called alfalfa by Shaklee has been a miracle worker for me. I have had one 2 day flare in all these months. It helps with inflammation so I take about 15 tablets a day. It’s very inexpensive so don’t let that deter you. I had to play around a little bit with the dosage. They say try 10 a day but they are all natural and cant hurt you so everyone on them has their own dose. It’s such a natural and inexpensive way to treat your inflammation. I hope this helps!
Theraworx for Muscle Cramps: I have found this to relax the muscles. It is a magnesium base. Available at Walgreen, Walmart, or Amazon. They also make one for Nerve Pain. I can feel the muscles relax after applying it.
I go through periods where I can’t stand feeling my clothes or water on my skin; like a fire burning me or just mere touching me hurts.
Then I go through times where I feel like I’ve got a bad case of flu 😷 this usually lasts from 3 days to two weeks.
I started doing more standing YOGA moves and that seems to really help to alleviate my pain!
Listening to calming music and especially classical music. Find your favorite. One I like is MOZART.
Gentle hugs, Maddie
Thanks for the yoga and music ideas. I do some pt and will start with
another therapist next week.
@mrstigger49 Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect! I’m glad you found the site AND you had some helpful info to pass on. Thank you!
Thank you, Becky.
Try to find my positive ~ it helps my pain level lower.
I also have ADHD which causes anxiety so music calms my soul and soothes my skin & inward…😊
I’ve started the spoon method as per my PCP. I had to change it to a number system as that works better for me but it’s absolutely helping me manage my pain and fatigue.
