Fibromyalgia pain: Let's connect

Posted by clownscrytoo @clownscrytoo, Oct 22, 2016

Is there anyone here that suffers from fibro? I had the 'tender spot test' several years ago and I had 17 out of the 18. I try my hardest to get through the pain with my 4 hydrocodone/acetaminaphine pills a day, Tiger Balm rubbed into areas that are the worst, light exercises, and distracting myself with hobbies or chores, etc; but there are many occasions where none of that helps and I spend most of the day holding down the couch, getting up about 30-45 minutes after that, walking/standing around the house for 15-20 minutes, or sitting for about 15-30 min. I do not drive and my husband works 6 days a week, overtime almost every day, so I'm alone a lot. my wonderful husband is very supportive and I am very grateful for that, but my only other friends are online, out of state, and I will probably never even get to meet them. when extreme pain takes over, my depression takes over and it is so difficult to find hope. does anyone have tips for fibro, whether diet or over-the-counter meds (I've tried them all, I think), or anything, besides hobbies and such? I've tried every over-the-counter med, and the Tiger Balm does cover some of what the pain pill doesn't help, but I'm hoping one of our members might have some knowledge that could help. I'd really appreciate it.
hugz,

When I lived in Oregon, yes I used it. The oil. Never needed a pain Pill. What is happening is the drug companies want to take over the Marijuana.

All I can say is I hope others have better experiences in getting help than I have. I know I am not assertive enough. I live in an area that is archaic in many ways. Moving again is not an option as I do not have another move left in me and where would I go? Anyone with a mental health history is labeled and their pain is not real...esp. Fibromyalgia. Doomed and damned by ignorance.

Sucks, doesn’t it?

Ask for pain meds – you are instantly an addict looking for a high. It doesn’t matter if you are a grandmother that bakes cookies.

This is the reality we voted into place.

Anyone else being accused of faking pain that has no history of such prior to fibro. Any trips to a doctor I do alone lest some else's good intentions hinder the visit. Every thing is blamed on depression.

m a 75 year old Grandmother who cannot walk correctly, gets tired very fast and is in pain at all times. My grandkids will never know the real me. I turn 76 in April. I am so surprised I am still here. Amazing.

CLOWNS You are just like all of us. However, you are very fortunate to have pain medication. Many of us on here are on Methotrexate and infusions now and then. Pain meds are a thing of the past.

Parus...I am so sorry you are facing such obstacles. It is enough to be filled with pain and add to that daily issues. Why do you have to move? What Sate do you live in? Can you call your church for help? What about the County. O get on your knees and talk to the Lord

Please! Faith in your self first, then find someone to help off your knees?

I am a 63 year old grandmother and I cannot do anything well. Walking is a sometimes ability. I just had surgery on my neck so I hope it will help with my upper abilities. I do NOT want my grands to remember me as their sickly grandmother. I am working hard to become the grandmother they deserve and the grandmother I always wanted to be. I waited to become a grandmother for a long time and right now I can't be her. I hope we both become that amazing, funny and loving grandma our grands deserve!!!

I am trying to learn to say, "No!" My problem is when I feel good I try to do all the things I can't when I am suffering a flair up. Problem is, I cause a flair up when I do that. It is my hubby who says no for me. He knows me well (as he should after 44 years). He knows I will push myself so he tries to stop me before I regret it. He is usually right!

One of my previous pain docs did a urine test for drugs at each visit. I rarely take a pain pill, but when I need it, I take one. I usually take less than 5 a month. But now, after surgery, I take 1 or 2 a day. I am very aware of what I do where pain pills are involved. I am a food addict and I know all too well that it can transfer to other addictions.
