Hi @lawman, I know it can seem overwhelming at times and it's perfectly normal to feel the way you do about having tried everything to lose weight. I tried for many years to lose weight and many different diet plans and spent a few years in Weight Watchers until I finally realized that it was really up to me and I had to make a decision on the kind of lifestyle that is healthy for me and stick with it. Intermittent fasting and control the time window during the day that I allow myself to eat really helped me. It made it easier to cutout the night time snacking and a few other bad eating habits I had. Making sure I had some exercise daily also was part of the changes I made. Here are a few discussions you might find helpful to get you started

Do you like to walk or do any other form of exercise?
Thanks for the concern and advice. I think the night time snacks and love for sweets chocolate are my biggest hurtle.
@lawman Let me add my welcome, I see you have been a member for a while, but recently did your first post.
Yeah for you, for recognizing where your downfall may be with the battle of being overweight! Snacks and sweets call out to many, to indulge. We think "oh, one piece won't hurt me...I've had a rough day...I'll watch it closer tomorrow..." and soon it is a habit that we are reluctant to break.
What can you replace that nighttime snacking and love of sweets with? Is there a hobby you do that requires you to concentrate or use both hands? For example, if you are doing a crafting project, you might not want to get your hands sticky/greasy and transfer that to the project, so you can substitute the eating with doing something creative. Have you thought about that?

Hi @lawman , consider following the Weight Management page as well. https://connect.mayoclinic.org/blog/weight-management-1/
The tabs across the top describe the various pathways to tackle weight management from lifestyle efforts through bariatric surgery. Have you met with a dietitian to find a plan that works best for you?
If exercising is not helping then get your diet on track. Eat more proteins, fiber, and nutritious food; avoid processed and junk food and beverages; drink lots of water and fruit juice; have fruits and dry fruits daily keeping in mind the amount; eat less but eat throughout the day with lesser gaps. Every morning on empty stomach drink either unsweetened lemon water, green tea or unsweetened black coffee, or both. Believe me, these are a great fat burner, can tell you from experience. Add white oats, curd, and egg to your meal. These are a few points to change your food habits. It may sound difficult, but because I have applied it for myself I believe in the change.
This is the source from where I came to know that adding spices can boost metabolism and increase fat burn. Didn't knew about this until before.
In case you are not doing regular workouts, join the gym or fix a time for either cardio, Zumba, or aerobics. There are tons of workout videos available on YouTube, and not all of those are fake.
Here is a really informative video on the whys of being overweight and health problems...
I have been unsuccessfully trying to manage my weight loss for ten years. This is the most informative lecture I have ever heard and I am convinced now that if I can effectively manage my emotions, I can successfully eliminate carbs from my diet, leading to successful weight loss. From this video, I see that I have a lot of work ahead of me and it won’t be easy. But, it definitely gives me hope that I did not previously have in me. Thank you very much for sharing this doctor’s direction.
