Hi @mel7575, I'm sorry to hear that you are still in a lot of pain. I'm tagging fellow members like @lindes @ess77 @jojo13 @fourof5zs who have had pelvic surgery, although I'm not sure if it is the same surgery. Hopefully they can share their experiences and offer encouragement.

Mel, eight weeks isn't that long after surgery, but it sounds like you are having more pain than you expected to at this point. Did you have a follow-up appointment with your surgeon to rule out if anything isn't as it should be?

I had a prolapsed bladder, and also some vaginal work done. Once the wounds were healed, I received pelvic physical therapy, and that helped me a lot, it got me going again in a very short time.

I have been searching for a forum to discuss my post pelvic floor surgery. I had repair as my bladder pushing my vagina out. Surgery was 7 weeks ago. I'm commenting to you because the first week, I had gas pain over pelvic bone and severe gas when having a bowel movement. Gradually all got better. Had 6 week check up and Dr. said , Looked great and I felt great. Did over do at Thanksgiving and now, 8 days of medium cramping over pelvic bone and lots of gas when having bowel movement again??? I did just put in a call to my surgeon to double check. I know it's still early and it takes mos. to recover. Is anyone else having similar experiences?
Also, I am 74 and never had leakage and unfortunately now when I sneeze or cough, here it comes ! However, no more vaginal bulge so I am happy

I had Cystocele and rectocele repair 10 days ago and continue to have painful bladder spasms. Is this common for others?

I’d like to hear how/if things have improved for anyone who has had this surgery. I cannot decide whether or not to have it...from what I’m reading the basic recovery it terrible and pain medication is not prescribed for any length of time to help women get through this surgery.

@dawn543
I am over 3 months post surgery and still have pain when sitting. I take ibuprofen 600 mg with Tylenol 1000 mg 2-3times per day to take the edge off. Have been taking meds for bladder spasms, using estrogen cream, and doing daily pelvic exercises from a specialized PT. Doctors say I am on target for healing and that it may take a year for complete healing to occur! Any other suggestions to ease the pain would be most appreciated!

@jenben59 I had surgery (Copolcleisis for vaginal vault prolapse & bladder sling) in late November, 2025. For me, the one thing that was a source of pain and irritation was the "posterior stitch". I thought I was never going to heal, but on the day before the six weeks mark I could tell it was gone or healing. That was my Hallelujah moment. I never had to take anything stronger than Ibuprofen. I was also tired for a number of weeks too (I am 75). I am now going to physical therapy and I think it's helping especially for bladder and bowel. I told the physical therapist that I never realized that at age 75 I would need to go to school to learn how to poop!!! Haha!
