2 ReactionsYES. FANTASTIC.AMAZING. Immediate results. I don't know why they don't approve this through the FDA. I've been treated for depression for over 30 years - have tried just about everything except TMS (ECT, every drug, you name it). After one tx knew it was the difference. SEEK IT OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1 ReactionKetamine did not work for me nor did it hurt me in anyway…the brief two or three hour reprieve was delicious…the science behind K is sound…I suspect it had no long term benefit because if the veil over my cognition…provided by Big Pharma…thanks again guys for making sure i suffered just a little bit longer …
I don’t understand your comments.Everyone has A different situation, you also have to want to get better.
Hi,
I am going to be evaluated for this again tomorrow.
Formerly, I had oral and intranasal ketamine back in 2015 for severe facial neuropathy. I also have orthopedic pain (arthritis in my spine and in my knees). I also have avascular necrosis in both hips and knees (probably other areas. The facial pain was resistant to any oral pain meds tried (gabapentin, trileptal, lortab, oxycodone (sometimes I did have some effect from oxy though not consistently), morphine, and diladud). I had oral troches and nasal as well as a paste for the oral pain that was applied topically). The facial/oral pain was following nerve damage from a severe oral infection as well as the subsequent oral surgery. Oral pain is typically resistant to meds. I am DNR/DNI and did not want injections or any other intervention. Ketamine was one of the few things that actually helped. And statistically is safer than opiates.
The downside was the expense. The pain management visit was covered by insurance but the cost of the oral/intranasal/topical ketamine was not covered. Comparatively to opaites the actual cost is reasonable, it's just a lot when it's coming out of your pocket.
Tomorrow, I am hoping that they will give me the troches and/or nasal spray. The pain is from fibromyalgia, peripheral neuropathy and the arthritis/avascular necrosis (nice double whammy). Currently opiates are only partially effective and make it difficult to work due to cognitive effects. I have filed for disability (you can work but can only make $1500/month). I have got to have some kind of income as I prefer not to wind up homeless.
Hope this helps. Good luck to you!

1 Reaction6 IVs of it over 1.5 weeks? I had 6 IV's over 4 weeks. What you had seems to be too much too fast?
I have had ADHD, PTSD, and depression for as long as I can remember. I realized something was wrong but was unable to express it, or my parents were not paying attention. I suffered for years. I was diagnosed with ADHD four years ago and am currently on medication to treat it. This was a game changer for me. But the albatross continued to weigh heavily on me. I turned to IV Ketamine WITH Therapy. After six IV treatments, I moved to Spravato. K is much more expensive than Spravato, and I believe it is more effective. But Spravato is covered by insurance.
I read many people's descriptions of their ketamine journeys, and what I found missing from the majority of them was talk therapy. I cannot imagine taking this drug without someone to assist in handling any emotions that may emerge. Everyone's experience varies, yet it is human nature to seek connection. So, why not seek therapy? Medication can hide or even temporarily reduce symptoms, but if the underlying cause is not addressed, it will return in vengeful, unexpected ways.
IMHO, everyone should talk to someone. Some people are strolling about obvious and utterly self-unaware while they are suffering inside. You do not know everything, and neither does the bozo who left a Reddit comment offering you advice. Instead of going to a clinic that is "authorized by law" to give you the medication and then send you home to stew in your emotions without the support you need to help you make sense of it all, seek out professional care that also specializes in mental health.
I didn’t know that at the time but sure wish I had.
