Grover's Disease: What works to help find relief?

Posted by 43219876x @43219876x, Sep 23, 2016

I have been diagnosed with Grover's disease under my breasts. I had a biopsy for diagnosis. Tried topical ointment with no really good results. Any ideas?

I live in Texas so I understand the heat problem. Have been on cilantro smoothies about 11 days and also take 3 cilantro capsules each day. Overkill? Maybe but I hate the itching. And so far, so good.

I just got back from work travel to Texas, and I think the heat and travel stress got me. I’ve got the start of a new outbreak! I’m so bummed. To top it off, I think I have some yeast again too. 🤦🏼‍♀️ So, I’m going to join the cilantro club! I have my prescription creams too, so hopefully between the creams and cilantro, I’ll keep this under control. Wish me luck! I appreciate all the commentary on this thread.

I am still hopeful about cilantro as my most recent breakout of GD beginning end of Feb has stalled since beginning the cilantro club, cc, about a month ago so do give it a try. It's not as disgusting to drink daily as I thought it would be.

Yeast, me too- Surprisingly and out of desperation for chronic yeast issues I began a detox to kill off the residual yeast that lives in our colons beginning in Nov 18. A gynecologist who is a not mainstream recommended this and it was hard for me to believe. I resisted this yeast detox for years as it is a major sacrifice. When the yeast is starving it is sending messages to your brain demanding sugar, much like a junkie has messages sent to the brain with the body demanding drugs. Sugar is an addiction, yet now I know will power can win out, you simply must be miserable enough to attempt the detox. On my own learning more about dietary changes finally made up my mind to make the sacrifice. NO SUGAR (NATURAL OR PROCESSED) OR CARBS IN ANY FORM FOR 2 MONTHS minimum and for some may take 3 months. My yeast symptoms left after 6 weeks yet I stuck with the kill off for 3 months just to be sure. After that ok to allow myself a few servings of fruit a week and gluten free carbs a few times a week. Still free of burning and itching from yeast. This is a life plan. This diet is also supposed to help with eczema inflammation, yet even with this plan in which killed off my yeast I began a GD breakout in Feb, yet perhaps this yeast kill off, plus the cilantro is helping to make this the lightest breakout I have had in 4 years.

Will let you know. I’m too lazy for making smoothie the way you do. I just take a container of Yoplait yogurt, dump it in blender over cilantro, add orange juice. ANY flavor of yogurt. Then blend and drink. Can actually make 2 days worth. I put half in container and put in refrigerator. Then next day I stir and drink. Figure I want to keep it simple if I’m going to do this rest of my life.

I cannot do dairy or sugar. That is why I use unsweetened almond milk.

I have not run in 3 months and it’s something I’ve done consistently for 45 years. Thus I’m getting antsy sitting in house. I’m thinking of venturing out tomorrow to see how I do. Any suggestions on what to after run? Yes I will be hot and sweaty. Worried that I will get an outbreak. Been calm for about 10 days after I started cilantro smoothies.
FYI I’m starting to look forward each day to my smoothie 😁

Have you considered some type of health club or the YMCA?

TerraVita Cilantro 450 mg (Certified Organic) contains 100 capsules. Suggested dose 3 a day with meals but I am down to one with the fresh cilantro added. Hope to save only for road trips. Purchased on Amazon. I am not a Prime member so it took over a week to deliver.

fedupwithgrover- I ordered cilantro tablets on line. I make a fresh cilantro smoothy in the morning and am adding a few cilantro tablets at night. If I were you I would pack some tablets. If you have access to a grocery store in Jamaica I bet they stock the fresh. Have you tried contacting your hotel or resort to ask if they have fresh in their kitchen that could be made available for you or if a grocery store is nearby? Good luck especially since you are improved. Let us know what you figure out.

To kimass1- after 1 month I am now a cilantro treatment believer. Today 95% of my scabs have fallen off and only left with the pink scared skin which usually fades in time. Some of the papules which are now pink scared skin are flat and some are still raised. I can lay on my back and read, watch TV or sleep! Mild itching left but zero pain. I am one that when broken out the pain can be severe. Normally my reoccurring breakouts last 6 months. My under the skin bumps are so minimized they are hard to feel. I know with GD we have cellular changes to our skin so these small bumps may be there forever.

My history with the cilantro treatment- after following the suggestion of kimass1 to read up on the earthclinic.com grovers disease site which had information about bloggers success with cilantro I followed this plan for 2 weeks and to my amazement my GD break out (only 1 1/2 months into it) didn't progress. Stalled. At that time I followed more of her advice and that of others to add chlorella supplements (broken wall tablets most recommended for absorption) which I took twice a day. I also augmented my fresh cilantro morning smoothly with a cilantro supplement tablet with dinner. I have not missed a day of this treatment. I have learned on the internet how to keep cilantro fresh for a week. I buy 4-6 bunches weekly, depending on the size of each bunch and could keep it longer if needed. I will also add for those of you concerned about site effects- I had none. No stomach upset or any other noticeable symptoms from consuming this much cilantro or adding the chlorella (some have noted stomach upset from the chlorella, so I only take 2 tablets of the NOW Chlorella 500 mg twice daily. The bottle recommends taking 6 daily. I am waiting to inform my derms, the two I see several times a year because I have 3 forms of eczema. I don't want to sound like a crackpot touting this treatment only to have it return in a few months. Yet I do plan on giving them each a letter documenting this treatment and share the earthclinic site in a few months and hopefully this cilantro treatment will help others.

Bless you kimass1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you so very much!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm also grateful to Mayo for providing this blogging site. Kim your desire to help those of us with GD is so appreciated .I hope the cilantro is still helping you.Even if this cilantro treatment stops helping, right now have all 3 forms of my eczema under control. GD was the hardest for me because my other 2 types: ACD and Perioral have definite triggers controls which can be eliminated.

@gardeningjunkie I am SO happy to hear that you are doing so well! When I realized that the Cilantro was working for me, I felt I had to tell everybody! I was at my wits end with the disease and DESPERATE! I was searching the internet high and low to find anything that would help! I super skeptical when I heard about the Cilantro remedy. But I had tried all conventional remedies to no avail. I had nothing to lose! I had much the same experience you did. It took about a month, but in that time no new papules sprouted and all of the itching stopped and the scabs left and scars faded. I had a few residual bumps but I was FREE! I am happy to be able to share this information and even more happy to hear that it is helping other people suffering with Grover's disease. BTW I began substituting my sherbet with yogurt and orange juice like @frogger did...man that makes a difference! It is WAY more palatable 🙂 THX!

My hubs is on day 5 of cilantro and it seems to be helping a bit. I put it in the blender with OJ and frozen strawberries and it's good!! Even my kids like it! LOL! I'll keep you posted. He's still taking the pills as well, but didn't feel like they were doing anything.

Well, I gave exercise a shot. Had gone 2-1/2 months without running. Hadn’t done that in 45 years. Had been on my cilantro smoothies for 3 weeks. Now itch free so I ran. A little out of shape but had no recurrence of Grover’s after my run. Today I actually worked in yard. Mowed, edged, everything it would take to test it. And nothing! My wife cannot find any signs of Grover’s on my back. Sleeping through the night finally. I’m a cilantro smoothie believer. I also supplement with cilantro capsules, vitamins A and D. Thanks to kimass1!
