Recovery from LAD stent
I am trying to recover from having LAD stents procedure on July 17th I now have two stents. I never had any heart disease issues prior and I did not have a heart attack but I am diagnosed with severe coronary heart disease. This has been a very difficult recovery as I was put on large dosages (which I know is protocol) of Lipitor, Brilinta and Losartan. I couldn't tolerate them and had to go back into the hospital because my arms, legs and head radiated as if I had an electric currant running through them. My legs were heavy, weak and ice cold. I was taken off of everything except the Brilinta but still had the intense sensations and weakness in my legs. I am now on Plavix at a lower dosage but it has taken six days of the same symptoms to lessen. I am no longer having the radiating sensations but I am still very fatigued in my legs especially after I take the Plavix and now my chest feels tight as I move more. My cardiologists seem mystified which makes me frustrated. I was told that this was a procedure that allows you to return back to a normal life. As a previously very active 69 year old woman and artist and dancer I am concerned how this recovery is going especially since my cardiologists haven't given me much advice as if this is normal or if I will ever feel myself again. Has anyone tried any alternative treatments for recovery like acupuncture or homeopathy? I would appreciate any thoughts or advice. Thank you.

OK - I tried that and had a few good numbers, then checked a few days and then a couple of weeks - later and it was back up - I had convinced myself I had tamed BP, but not quite. Did some more reading and noted sort of a trend where folks treat themselves, then think it's OK, but then ...
Whatever works for you - if you aren't checking daily and keeping a log, it might make sense to consider doing this.
I know I can't treat myself solely and I am taking the Plavix. My cardiologist has taken me off the blood pressure medication because it was causing me debilitating symptoms but I will be taking an injectable non statin starting next week I've been keeping a strict diet and monitoring my blood pressure as well as keeping a log and also keeping my cardiologist advised. I am open to all advice.
This is what my cardiologist is recommending. My recovery has been rocky so I haven't started yet but hoping by next week to begin.
I was active and had SOB and then had same symptoms as you AFTER my first 2 mid LAD stents. Less than 3 months later, another cardiologist found what he thought was still my SOB and placed 2 more proximal LAD stents. I thought and have asked if I could be allergic to plavix. Response was ... "possibly but highly unlikely". BTW, I'm still on plavix since Sep 2022. They also have advised aspirin daily for the rest of my life (age 67). Metoprolol added and BP losartan low dose and imdur. I don't have high BP (avg 125/73) but was told in order to make my heart work less. I am familial high cholesterol and tried all the different statins and they all hurt my joints. Switched to injections, Repatha, then Praluent, then back to Repatha. Worked immediately. It's frustrating to not feel like myself and still not feeling well. Maybe if I stop the plavix, I will, but the cardiologists have all been hesitant to do so. Hope you feel better soon.
I also asked my cardiologist if I could be allergic to Plavix with the same response. I have been getting slightly better but still can't manage to shake off the weakness in my legs yet and yesterday I started having stabbing pains on the left side of my head throughout the day and previous evening. I have been taking Tylenol for that. I have heard from other people on blood thinners it take at least three months to get used to them and told by my cardiologist that I must be on Plavix for six months to a year and I also take baby aspirin and COQ10 until I start the injectable. I never had SOB at all and I don't now as of yet. The doctors all confirm that my heart is strong and not my issue but my cardiologist is saying once I am more adjusted to the medications that she wants to put me on a heart medication. I don't know what that is or means but like you I would prefer to not be on Plavix and feel better instead of trying to adjust to medication and feeling off balance. I hope you can get off the Plavix. It sounds like a very kong time for you to be on it. Good luck.
Do your home work. Do you know what makes you sick. Is it milk, eggs, nuts and so on. Next to the pharmacist, they have a lot more knowledge as what is in the meds. You can also go on line to the drug company or call if you know what you are allergic to.
After a year of being alright on rosuvastatin, it suddenly started wreaking havoc on my body. I had stomach problems, palpitations, and even experienced extreme depression and anxiety. When my blood work came back with a good cholesterol number, my doctor agreed I could take six months off. Praying A lifestyle change will do the trick! After three months off of it, I am already feeling better, but experiencing the fatigue still! It’s a devil drug and if I have to go back on a statin, it won’t be one that strong.
How many mg of Rosuvastatin were you on
Try 3 or 4 Brazil nuts a day
Interesting… but I’ll try it!
