Has Anyone taking Camzyos Experienced Higher Blood Pressure Readings?
I had been on Carvedilol for 4 years before starting Camzyos about a month ago. My fatigue issues have lessened significantly and now I can exercise and have a more fulfilling lifestyle in general. But, I am experiencing high blood pressure with Camzyos, and according to my regular doctor that is because Carvedilol lowered my blood pressure. Has anyone else dealt with this issue and if so, what has your cardiologist suggested? I would appreciate knowing what others have been advised. Thank you for any feedback. Debra

Hi @susanml
I did it lowering the dosage and my Cardiologist was not happy with that. He took me an echocardiogram then he re adjusted the dosage for me and I am doing fine now. There must be a reason why he did not like what I did. I am losing weight so my blood pressure has a trend to go down. I will ask my Cardiologyst what to do on teleapointment so I do not need to go to his office after he made the adjustement on the dosage.
I suggest you to talk to your Cardiologist about that.
Many thanks for your response. Self medication seems to be frowned upon by the professionals. Just thought I could manage myself for the time being.
it seems to me like you should call your doctors office and/or nurse and leave a message with that question. Most doctors have a way you can contact them on an app or something like that. That doesn’t seem like a place you want to get advice from other patients.

2 ReactionsHi, the issue with possible higher blood pressure while on Camzyos was explained to me by my cardiologist.
As Camzyos works to lesson the symptoms of blockage of cardiac blood flow it it can cause a rise in blood pressure since your cardiac blood flow is more normalized.
Blood pressure meds probably will need to be adjusted as mine have been.
I've been on camzyos over a year. I have never had high blood pressure and mine has stayed low. I do take a beta blocker. All of us are different but I hope you find an answer

1 ReactionHi all, I have started Camzyos 1 month ago and just had my first ECHO since starting, my gradient pressure has gone from 214 to 12!!! I think that is excessive, but their excuse for this was that it probably wasn't really 214 but over 100 due to my extreme contractability. My blood pressure has also gone up since I've been on Camzyos, they just want to refer me to my primary cardio, the Heart Failure Clinic really doesn't seem to have answers or solution to anything.
@cash298 I was told that when Camzyos is working, it often results in an elevated BP (from your baseline) since your heart is now working better and pumping adequate (more) blood from your left ventricle. Minor tweaks by your cardiac team to your blood pressure meds should help.
Thank you for this information. I am wondering about the new drug that is a competitor to Camzyos and whether it perhaps will not have side effects that cause higher BP? I am going to ask my cardiologist on my next visit.
@bestseller2025 - I just re-read your June 2024 post. Hope your brain fog has cleared and that mavacamten is working for you. It's exciting to have aficamten (I assume that's the one you were referring to) about to become available VERY soon.
I did a quick google search and the AI summary (yes, I know we have to be super-careful about trusting what AI tells us) suggests: "... aficamten has a shorter half-life, fewer drug-drug interactions, and potentially better tolerability (less treatment interruption for low ejection fraction), while mavacamten was first-in-class and shows proven benefits but has a REMS program and more interactions, with ongoing research comparing them, though direct head-to-head trials are limited. Aficamten offers faster washout and titration, while mavacamten requires careful monitoring due to its longer half-life and interactions. ..."
So it may be a while before we have definitive data on the mavacamten/aficamten question. But having more treatment options will always be a good thing.

2 Reactions@cash298 I'd never experienced BP problems until Camzyos. I've been on it for approximately 7 months. Gradient under 30 now. A vast improvement. However, about 3 weeks into my Camzyos regimen, I developed high blood pressure. It's been quite a challenge to try to get my BP regulated. I'm still not there, but frankly. it's left me wondering if I made the right decision. The improved gradient is a good thing, but this day to-day battle with BP is a struggle. Would love to hear from someone who has experienced a similar experience.
