Internal Body Tremors and Tinnitus
I am a 47 year old female who has been in very good health most of my life. I work out daily. In January I had sudden elevated blood pressure and feelings of heart racing/palpitations. I was put on 25 mg of Losartan. An Echo and 7 day heart monitor were normal. 3 weeks into taking the medication, I developed ear ringing and feeling shaky. I was switched to Coreg (beta blocker) to see if symptoms improve.
Symptoms progressed to feelings of internal head vibrations/quivering and sometimes into chest and abdomen as well as a feeling of shakiness in my limbs off and on. I had a CT Scan and MRI as well as lots of blood tests including checking thyroid and hormonal/adrenal gland issues. All tests normal. Saw an ENT for the tinnitus and also tell me everything looks normal. Only reference in MRI was that the bilateral anterior inferior cerebellar arteries are coursing in close proximity to their respective 7th and 8th cranial nerves. Neurologist didn't think symptoms were typical of neurological diseases so these are ruled out for now. He isn't sure but only speculation that it's possible arteries have irritated cranial nerves but had no treatment to recommend. I have days when the head and body vibrations are unbearable and days when they are more manageable.
Sleeping is challenging and I started on Gabapentin (Neurontin) at bedtime which has helped my sleep. I am also now off all blood pressure medications and my blood pressure is normal again. I have perplexed my doctors. Seeking any insight here. I am beyond frustrated. Not even sure if the Blood Pressure issues and meds caused this or just coincidence in timing. Seems I have some sort of internal tremors but no tests show why yet.

Hi, I have on and off vertigo and continuous tinnitus for past 3years. Constant feeling of tremors in head, especially when lying down. I rarely have headaches. There is always a little heaviness in my head. My ENT said everything looks normal in CT scan and MRI. Everyone just says it must be due to some cervical related issue so do some exercises for it. Can anyone help?
It all statred in 2021, while sleeping I probably had an episode of vertigo and when I was tried to get up and trying opening my eyes, I could not seen anything, everything was blur. Till date I am not able to put back of my pillow without feeling a pressure and I eventually have to change my position dur to this. Can someone please help me with the diagnoses.
I have internal tremors/vibrations all through body started January 2024 - Night time in bed has been horrendus - - doctors do not know why/how - unknown how it starts - after 5 months I am now taking 2 x 10 mg Endep before bed time - and sometimes 1 x 10mg temaze - during day I take a supplement ALA (alpha Lipoic Acid) 600 mg 1 after breakfast 1 after lunch - have found the tremors at night have mostly gone and nowhere near as intense - been on these med about 2 weeks now. During day is not a bother and occasionally feel the tremors - I know this is of no real help but at least you know not alone -
I had the same symptoms and was diagnosed with polyneuropathy, which is nerve damage throughout the body. Causes vary, but the result is very similar, to a different degree. I'm still working on improving and managing the condition.
I also have all the symptoms. They are unbearable at times. I have been informed it is related to peri menopause and is well documented. It is due to fluctuating hormones. If you take note of when it’s happening, a pattern will appear. I can’t wait for it to level out and stop. It makes having a restful sleep impossible.
Update.
After 4 years of different doctors and normal tests. I ended up with a neuromuscular neurologist. She is a research expert at a well known university.
She ordered sone specific tests and among them a CK (creatine kinease) test which came up very high.
It’s funny all this time waiting to see an abnormal test to get some answers and treatment plan and finally came up and now I’m panicking. My follow up appointment is in November so I’ll have to deal with this expecting anxiety.
Have you guys had a CK test? Has it come normal?
Thanks for sharing! Long ago, when I presented with severe tinnitis, and balance problems, the neurosurgeons found through intervention that anterior cerebellar arteries were pressing in on my cranial nerves. The neurosurgeons said that was an extremely sensitive area of the brain to operate in, so they couldn’t just go in and try to separate arteries from being close to cranial nerves, and, if they did, the conscious area of the brain is nearby, and there would be a chance a patient would not regain consciousness. So, their solution was to prescribe blood pressure lowering drugs, so I have been on Losartan and Propanolol for many years.
